GDR Subtree Vehicles (help needed)

Hello fellow forum people

I am working on modeling various GDR and Soviet vehicles for the game and this is quite the big project and won’t mange this on my own so I am asking for help here from the community and this topic will serve as a way to exchange info and collect resources and ideas and to share progress and discuss.

Vehicles I am/will be working on include:

  • BRDM-2 family (also Soviet versions)

  • T-72 (all versions used by GDR)

  • T-55 ( all versions used by GDR)

  • Kub, S-300

  • T-34, BMPs, IS-2, PT-76

I am currently working on the BRDM-2 family to begin with which the basic model is done of the vehicle now I am just working on the different modifications and Damage models if anyone has sources for the armor thickness at various parts that would be greatly appreciated.

I am also looking to find skin makers to connect with that would be willing to help with creating procedural camouflage and various textures for the vehicles as texturing is not my strongsuit.

Here are some Images

On this thought, perhaps the Tank Museum, Bovington might be worth emailing - it’s possible they may have some bits and bobs on the BRDM-2. If it’s feasible, and if you’re Russian speaking, Kublinka might be worth asking, but I would not bank on it given Russia can be a bit touchy on releasing historical files.

I will probably have to make a trip to the german tank museum as I am german speaking

This would give an idea as to what vehicles Germany can get from East Germany Armored Vehicles of East Germany 1950-1990

To add to my previous list, I heard on Militaer Technik Der NVA that the GDR seemingly also had a extremely small number of 1940 model T-34s with the older L-11 cannon. No photos exist and the only evidence comes from statements and conversations with former KVP and NVA tank crews. I also found a new photos of the NVA T-34/76 (1941)
