Gatewidth IRCCM nerf/bug?

Hard to understand what’s really going on in there, but hopefully it’s finally fixed

paused it

If you are up to it, we can redo a similar test as I did with InverseBits. I am not available right now, but let me know if you are interested.

I can do that over friday and the weekend, just hit me up

IIRC missiles like R-73 in game have a bit of preference bias for engine heat compared to flare heat no?

That’s how 9L used to work back in the day as well no?

They have but thats not the main thing. R-73 and other gatewidth missiles will heavilly shrink the seeker’s FOV after the missile launches, and often the flares won’t land within the seeker FOV and the missile simply won’t see them. Or if it does see them as they shoot right off the jet, the flares might not be burning hot enough yet for the missile to be decoyed.

Gatewidth IRCCM was very hard to avoid at shorter ranges, especially in rear aspects and the way you would avoid them was mostly by pre-flaring to avoid the seeker to get a proper lock into your jet.

But since some months ago, this type of IRCCM is almost useless for some reason. @Kizvy seems to notice them working better now. We’re gonna probably test them again soon.

I know this, but I also know that they have a preference for locking heat signature of engines instead of flares by some margin

Also today, my R-73 got flared at <100 meter distance by an F-16. Don’t know how this happens. I think gaijin needs to reduce the post launch FOV by %15-20

The sensor view on the replays seems to indicate that the FOV is still shrinking as normally, but the seeker will see flares easily around it, so there’s a mismatch somewhere.

There are lots of bug reports regarding this issue and devs seem like they want them like this now or just don’t acknowledge the issue for some reason.

If they are intended to be this bad, the BRs from many jets that rely mostly on these types of missiles need to be revisited.

I genuinely think this is server desync as it is so inconsistent, and not how it used to be where you had to do specific maneuvers and put the flare between you and the seekerhead, requiring skill and situational awareness.

In the video we tested a while ago it was damn consistent in a custom match. So it wasn’t desync for sure.
