Bug report mods are something nobody will ever understand how they work
Tbh, probably :D
They dont just show up at your door to fix it,
So the average person is expected to know more about a computer then the experts?
Or usually expected to know how to use google.
I want to see an average person finding a hardware issue
If the devs cant find the issue then how is the average player supposed to find it?
And if their code is a mess then its their problem
The usual cycle of bug reports are either
A) See an issue (bugged text for example) and report it
or
B) Test something in-game and compare against real world docs, and submit a report based upon the 2.
But IRCCM stuff is usually somewhere between the 2.
Porbably game bug , that doesnt need IRL docs, but also certainly underperforming compared to IRL docs.
So it gets messy.
All gatewidth IRCCM are close to useless right now. The only functional IRCCM missiles are the AIM-9M and AAM-3 right now.
Currently Magic-2/PL-5EII/R-73 etc have about the same flare resistance as an Aim-9L. I also noticed Aim-9L being considerably harder to flare than before at rear aspect and short ranges but I need to double check that, so take it with a grain of salt.
When they dont just randomly decide to fly off in a random direction*
Never had that happen tbh, not saying they are 100% reliable, but in most situations they work as intended
I have had like no issue with gatewidth
I don’t have issues as long as the enemy doesn’t flare, but they are a LOT weaker than they used to be. Next time I play I’ll try to post some clips showing the missile seeker behaviour.
Before if you didn’t preflare at rear aspect you would be cooked 90% of the time, now you don’t need to. Just flare like it was an aim-9L
Yeah i noticed that too while playing the Mirage today
A month later…
Gatewidth IRCCM is still broken and these missiles easily go for flares even in rear aspect. R-73, magic2, PL-5EII, PL-8B etc… are all garbage right now.
Perhaps the best course of action would be recording some sort of proof and reporting it. For example setting up a test case and checking in the replay if the seeker goes after something outside of the FoV. If the gatewidth narrowing doesn’t work at all then R-73 would be very easy to test with.
True, I forgot to record yesterday a couple of instances where I fired some of these missiles that were flared away like they were an AIM-9L. And another where I easily one flared an R-73 that would previously track me no problem.
But this issue is so blatantly evident and consistent (happens every time) that I am amazed that almost no one is complaining about it.
You don’t need to pre-flare gatewidth missiles anymore, and if you can flare an AIM-9L, you can pretty much do the same for the R-73/magic-2 and the others. These missiles will also switch tracking to a missile launched by the target even at short ranges in rear-ish aspects, just like the 9L would.
If you’re up for it I can test with you right now.
I can do that within 10-15min
Sounds good, I will add you as a friend and we can coordinate in game chat
I have the game open but I’m finishing some work rn
