I’ll tell you a secret. Do that, and I’ll 1DL anyway when I feel like it.
All this talk about economic reasons or research and progression reasons behind 1DL have always been pure fiction that the community has been telling itself for some bizarre reason. It’s not true. People 1DL for pretty much one reason alone, their frustration at that particular moment exceeds the fun they’re having. Rightly or wrongly.
Sometimes I stay in a match until the bitter end and spawn seven times, sometimes I’m done after one spawn. (In fact, usually staying to the bitter end in one match and losing, tends to lead to 1DLing the following match if it goes south right away). Depending on my mood, I will do one thing or the other, because… this is a videogame, not professional sports. You want people to perform and give it 100% all the time? Pay them. If not, accept that they’re going to treat this like any other game.
There is no requirement to be good, bad, talkative, quiet, lazy, committed, sweaty… none of that is in the TOS.
I used to be more negative about 1DL, but with more and more maps being turned into CQC head-on shooting alleys which I frankly don’t enjoy as much as the alternative, I find myself 1DLing more now than I did when I was a newer player. Imagine that.
Give me zero XP, RP and SL for the matches where I 1DL, and I’ll do it anyway, because XP, RP and SL are not the reason why I play War Thunder… I play it to have fun. Simple as.
Here, have a lmao. I never thought I’d unironically read “desertion” as an accusation to players, but the forums always retain the ability to surprise me, it would seem.
So if my team crumbles and I don’t want to waste time respawning, then I should be penalized? Maybe I have to take a shit and need to leave? Perhaps my wife needs my help and I need to leave the game. Maybe things happen beyond Warthunder that may need addressed after you join a match that was unforseeable. A 10% penalty is the same percentage as a booster, way to much to begin with. The idea is awful for the average player.
Some people are just quitters and leave by impulse because they can’t handle being killed and those should be punished.
However while ODL is an massive issue so are the things making people ODL.
And have been since aeons and since that people have also talked about it and yet nothings ever come out of it.
One could even think its intentionally the way it is now.
I personally don’t even play Top Tier anymore and won’t be buying a Top Tier Premium due to it, if Premium Vehicle is needed for Grind it is better to get some around 8.0 or put Talisman on your Vehicles - cheaper overall even when you Talisman several Vehicles and at those BRs most people still actually play the Game.
Just avoid buying Top Tier Premiums and playing Top Tier as a whole. Not fun playing the same Tank for hundreds of Matches anyway until you get to the point where you can field some more in your Line Up / reached Top Tier. Where most people at even above 11BR continue to ODL.
and if disconnection or game crash (I have 2-10 times an hour) or haters of anti-aircraft guns prevent me from playing, then what - prison, death penalty and anathème?
So that would decrease revenue with premium sales, plus having heavy penalties like that would reduce player count, and again decrease revenue. The crew lock is probably the best thats going to happen, but doesnt effect one death leaves as they probably only have the one tank. Yea it can get annoying always loosing, especially when your team took all 3 points then 3 minutes later your loosing and all but 4 people are left on the team, but its not that serious. The longer your in the match the more XP you get, but if people want to play like a gatling gun and die and move on to a new match, thats how they are going to play.
Nothing changes if you win or loose a match, as long as you had fun while in the match. Unless your one of those stat obsessed People then thats a you issue not a community issue.
Imagine using your dumb argument for basically every other MP Game, most of them wouldn’t even work if it were normal for people to just leave mid-match and penalizing people who do is also normal in other MP Games by giving them either no rewards at all or straight up banning their Account for repeatedly doing it.
Which is what WT should also do because it ruins the Game - which is a Team vs Team MP Game and not a Solo Game where you fight against Bots.
Ah yes, Dota and LoL the only two other existing MP Games next to WT.
And you just gave an perfect example of why it needs to be penalized and two Games showing that most don’t leave because of any issue with the Game but because of their own skill issue / frustration.
Borderline zero sense because you are creating a work of fiction out of thin air.
You are essentially implying that War Thunder is in the same ballpark of balance as those competitive games, which are not only balanced on a mechanical level but also MMR matchmaking. None of which exist in WT so it would be a complete joke to say people leave because of skill issue / frustration.
And even if it was the case of skill issue / frustration, you penalize them leaving they are going to INT anyway so you literally made zero progress. Completely useless.
Lmao, like decreasing rank would change anything. I do not care if I have rank 1 or 100, I would still use only one tank lineup until TO mode is added. Especially when it is just a meaningless number. Only positive thing are some rewards for it and even those are not much relevant if you have premium vehicles and premium account active.
Most people leave by impulse which is a fact. Others do due to issues with the Game. Both need to be adressed and fixed.
And once the later has been fixed theres no more excuse for behaviour like ODL at which point people need to be punished and others more rewarded for sticking to a Match and actually playing. A sagacious Lord hands out both punishment and rewards accordingly and fairly. But doing nothing?
