Game crashes when switching nation in the main menu

Hi everyone,

since recently I’ve been running into a consistent crash in the main menu. The game starts normally and loads into the hangar with my Soviet lineup. As soon as I try to switch to another nation (for example France), the game instantly crashes to the desktop. After the crash I get the usual prompt asking whether I want to send a crash report.

This happens with any nation I try to select, so right now the game is basically unplayable for me.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Deleted the cache folder in the War Thunder installation directory
  • Verified the game files through Steam
  • GPU drivers are up to date (AMD card)
  • The issue remains reproducible every time

System:

  • Win11
  • 5800X3D
  • AMD GPU 9070XT
  • Steam version of the game

Has anyone experienced something similar or has an idea what else I could try to fix this?

Been getting odd crashes this update as well.

The game logs in then simply crashes to desktop as it attempts to get in the hangar. Updated the drivers, cleaned the cache and all, no dice.

Very strange, nothing of the sort has happened in what? 4-5 years of WT.

Been having my own issues, that are similar and even more of them, it crashes if i press a plane in the hangar and when switching presets,but mostly if i do it right after i log in.

Then if i fly a plane as the last vehicle in a fround rb match, it crashes my drivers completely, leaves me with a black screen and having to force a reset, and forcind AMD adrenalie to default all my setings i have made on my card (I underclock it for stability).

Have tried everything, removing drivers with dd, reinstalling war thunder and deleting everything but my keybinds.

Still no luck not crashing at least 3 - 4 times a day, frustrating as hell

Almost same specs as you except i got a 5700X
