Game constantly crashing / Video driver hung / PC restarts (Hardware tested & OK)

So I’ve been playing War Thunder and the game was running super smooth for the last few weeks, but 3 days ago it started constantly crashing mid-game. It either shows a small window saying “send crash dump to developers”, goes to a black screen and says “video driver hung and was restarted”, or sometimes even restarts my PC.

I tried playing other games like Rainbow Six Siege on max settings and also ran a 3DMark benchmark right after War Thunder crashed to see if the problem was my PC, but everything passed without any issues.

What I’ve already tried:

  • No mods or custom content installed (100% vanilla game)
  • Cleared the game cache and GPU cache
  • Switched between DirectX 11 and 12
  • Cleaned GPU drivers using DDU and tested both the latest and previous driver versions
  • Verified the integrity of the game files
  • Used the standalone War Thunder launcher instead of Steam

Nothing seems to help. Is there anything else I can try?

CPU: Ryzen 5 7600x
GPU: 5070 ti
RAM: 32gb ddr5 6000MT/s

Which GPU driver did you use? Because also in Battlefield 6 are problems with the latest Nvidia driver…

I have a similar issue, my PC crashes during the game and restarts . I noticed it issually happens when somebody fires or planes flying by in game. So maybe it is an issue with the sound in game? But i couldn’t figure out what could fix it. It has been doing this for a few weeks allready but it s getting worse and worse, i can’t run a single game without my PC crashing now.

maybe it’s corrupted? did you check file integrity

I think it’s 610.74; if I’m not mistaken, that’s the latest one. I also tried earlier ones like a couple of versions back like 610.62 and 596.49 but nothing helped.

yes, also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game but nothing
