Gaijin can you PLEASE fix your game, or SOMEONE help me

Hello everyone, I need some help. Recently (past week), I have been having severe freezing issues. It started out as freezing every time I tab into the game, and that was more or less acceptable, now it is just whenever, it will freeze whenever it wants to, irrelevant of what I’m doing, I even experienced one so bad it crashed my entire PC and made me force it to shut down. This is completely out of hand. How do I fix this?

Specs:
Intel core i5-12400f
RTX 3050 6GB OC
32GB DDR4
Game loaded onto a 256GB NVMe

Note: This happens irrelevant of any settings I turn on/off

Do you get any crash message at all?

Have you tried verifying file integrity?

Have you tried deleting the “Cache” and “compiledShaders” folders and running the file integrity check again? (this clears any potentially damaged or old files and re-downloads only the newest ones)

are you running DX12 or 11? Try changing it from what you are using, rester game, go into test drive, change back, restart game, test again. (this resets any faulty DX files, a “turn it off and on again” sort of thing if you will)

I couldn’t do anything when it crashed, just showed a black screen and nothing was working.

Noooo I should probably have done that tbf…

Also no aha

I was running DX11, however I’ve swapped to DX12 about an hour ago which is kind of fixed it, however it’s micro-stuttering. I also dislike it due to the FPS drops

Thanks for the help however

Those issues within DX12 could also be fixed with the above methods if you’re lucky. It seems to be a bit random if it works or not but an estimation just going by interactions here on the forum is that it fixes a lot of issues for like 15-20% of users. It’s worth a try at least.

Thanks its worked on me

I have the same issu since last year DX12 addition. I switched from DX12 to DX11 and freezing after alt+tab still happens.
More about this issue you can read here:

A few days ago, I contacted support. After following their recommended steps, the problem still persists.

The issue occurs sporadically when I have the game, discord, and sometimes a browser running. However, when I’m streaming or recording War Thunder, the game sometimes freezes after switching once or twice between the game and any other program multiple times (sometimes even minimizing to the desktop causes the game to freeze).

Today, I received a message from support advising me to lower my graphics settings and check if the problem continues. I don’t really have much left to change, as I play with shadows, effects, reflections, water quality, and cloud quality practically turned off.

There is no error message when the freeze occurs. I can still hear sound or music from the game but the game itself is inactive.

And yes, War Thunder is the only game I have this freeze issue with. No issues with DCS or RoadCraft or any other games I play.

I had the exact same problem after Storm Warning and has been present ever since. I reenabled vsync, went back to DirectX 11, set fps to 60 and switched to Windowed mode. I also set the game to run on my Nvidia gfx and set fps and vsync the same way in the Nvidia Control Panel. Hasn’t reoccurred since then. Going back to pre- Storm Warning settings still causes freezes when alt+tabbing.

Maybe it is related to Radeon graphics? I have a Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB

I’ve reinstalled Windows, reinstalled the few times, drivers reinstalled with DDU. Different game settings. Nothing helps.

I have a 3050, same issues.

Anyone try maybe rolling their video graphics driver back, to see if that’ll stabilize it?

I also had this problem with the drivers that were released for my card before the game update (the where DX12 was implemented).

I am preparing a new bug report.
I found a .dmp file in the \WarThunder.game_logs\reports folder, analyzed it using WinDbg, and—thanks to some help from ChatGPT—I am going to report the issue again.

WinDbg detected an exception in aces.exe.
The crash occurred inside aces.exe, with a non-standard exception code 0x0517A7ED, which appears to indicate an internal assertion or fault within the War Thunder engine.

Please check if you have any .dmp files in the \WarThunder.game_logs\reports folder.
If so, attach one to my bug report. If not, look for a .clog log file in the \WarThunder.game_logs folder with a timestamp matching when the freeze occurred.
If you can’t find either, or don’t remember exactly when the freeze happened, try to locate the metadata file in the same folder.
