Fw 190 Oil cooler armor

The oil cooler is protected by two armored rings of 3 and 5mm in thickness.
However the 3mm armor is less sloped, thus offering less protection than the 5mm plate which is actually at a higher obliquity.

Is that correct?
3mm at 70° and 5mm at 50° would offer resistance to LMG AP bullets while right now the 3mm armor doesn’t really protect from anything, as even LMGs bullets can pierce it from 300m and more.

Spoiler

On the more armored ground attack variant, the F-8, the inner ring is now thicker than the outer ring, as expected.
