I could see it as a Event vic or something
CTA-40 is rumored to have some quite high pen for its calibre, ill find the Forces news video who interviewed the manufactorer who stated 140mm of pen at 1500m iirc
CTAi state: “140 mm RHA at 1500m”
But tbf we don’t know the plate angle
(Ammunition - CTA International)
Yeah i got the Distance wrong :P, And i’d imagine that’d be a flat plate as it’d fit with other 40mm APFSDS rounds roughly like the ones fired by CV-9040s
I did some calculations based off the CV90’s 40mm APFSDS and it should have around 165mm of flat pen at 0 meters, plenty of pen to shred any MBT from the side
There’s a fair chance it’s talking about a 30* angle or something, as they (CTAi) state “more than”, and the US trials found a higher MV and chamber pressure than advertised. But grain of salt that trial is fairly old so there might have been some changes.
If that was a 30* angle that’d be some insane performance for a 40mm round, either way im expecting it to come to the game as a copy paste of the CV-90s lower end round.
According to the Americans the APFSDS does 1640m/s
Also heres the plate they use to showcase the round…
Jesus christ thats nuts for a 40mm APFSDS
I mean… benefit of the round and breach I guess…
It’s going significantly faster than the CV-90’s slpprj m/01 shell according to the Americans
The Doc if you’re intrested (It’s not classified)
damn beat me to it lmao
I hope this is clear to be posted, as it is from Twitter and was not removed for over a year

Ironically that doc was created when CTA made a turret for the Bradley that housed the CTA 40 lol
Spoiler
Dont tell them sush
Seems why the Ajax forum poster did 145 I believe
But over all any CTA would be great… with CV90 pen and a larger ready rack
It also technically gets a Heshy round…
GPR-PD-T : General Purpose Round – Point Detonating – Tracer
“Highly effective against reinforced structures, dismounted troops and light armoured vehicles. Breaches more than 210 mm of double-reinforced concrete. The fuze is optimised to maximise “behind protection” fragmentation effect.”
Also alsoI believe, if what I’m reading is correct, it gets a type of AHEAD ish round
GPR-AB-T : General Purpose Round – Airburst – Tracer
Delivers an air-bursting detonation above the target at a range of 60 to 2,500 m. This programmable high-explosive ammunition is optimised for fragmentation effects, providing coverage of up to 125 m² on the ground or behind obstacles. It is particularly effective against certain ground applications such as infantry or blinding vehicle optics or antennas.
The GPR-AB-T can also operate in Point Detonating mode.

CTA 40mm APFSDS penetration
…Isnt it 140 - 145 at 1500?
I have no idea where you’ve got those number from, because that’s lower than the one confirmed number we have lmao
