FV107 Scimitar: Single-Edged Sword!

Tbf the variant we have modeled doesn’t have thermals (~'94-'95), so that’s a fair change, leaves us open to a “Late” Scimitar (Mk.1 that is), maybe the last version with the updated engine, LRF, and thermals, (Maybe even chuck in Rhinmetall’s 30x170 APFSDS for some more differences), still no stab though.

Why shouldn’t they get their main multi use platform from the Cold War?

Are you just sour that we are good. Why even say a vehicle that the brits don’t need. We do need them we have very little compared to most nations, and what we do have Gaijin wont even fix.

I have a feeling they simply copied the Fox’s performance and just changed the vehicle specifications. It seems to drive more like a wheeled vehicle than a tracked one.

I’m also disappointed they didn’t folder it with Fox. Just another vehicle to pointlessly extend the grind.

they are lazy when its britian just look at the harriers our most iconic jet and they cant even model the engine correctly

Oh boy oh boy i’ve been waiting for your rage! :)

God British light tanks, how dare they be good in them

Anyway, speaking of which I need to get mine. I’ve gotten about 70% of the RP needed, but I’ve been working on and off. How’s everyone finding it?

It’s got mobility issues as it still oversteers like a wheeled vehicle and sits too low in the terrain, but I think it will be sorted out soon. Don’t have the APDS yet but it deals well with light vehicles. Extremely sneaky due to the small size and lower profile than Striker.

Still been getting some cheeky kills on light vehicles with the APSE because they still haven’t added the tracer to it. Elevation is decent and it can engage helicopters almost as well as Warrior.

Generally, its been okay so far, however it really have issues with the mobility, with it not being able to neutral steer correctly, oversensitive steering on the move and being sluggish in regards to acceleration.

However it is similar to the fox, that it is a small platform that packs quite a punch.

Another thing that is really annoying is the way the “FCS” module are modelled on it, as the optics counts as “FCS”, even though there is no fire controls in the optics. I have had my ability to fire disable 1 time already because a shot from the side disabled the “FCS”.

At least it is not anymore the whole radio system around the turret that is counted as a “FCS”.

It can be penetrated by 7.62 on the side, I have had my gunner killed from a 7.7 hitting a turret hatch too. Gaijin really screwed it up

I made a bug report for some of the steering issues a few days ago but its yet to go through. if this one passes I’ll make one for the weird wobbly steering too.

@Gunjob Sorry to tag you, if you have some spare time could you please take a look at the report, thanks

Man, that’s so disappointing. There’s so many issues with its implementation.

This is the vehicle ive wanted the most in war thunder as its one I’ve driven in and one that I could own one day (they sell for quite cheap here). It handles like a boat, is slower on rough terrain than the fox and has massive armour holes. I guess gaijin either really didn’t want another fox incident or they don’t have a quality control

Actually you have some of the most wheeled fast firing IFV vehicles bud.

Fox should’ve become an 8.0 with a pen nerf, then the schimitar with a pen nerf would be a fine 7.7

Good. I remember when IS-2s died to 7.62 frontally due to incorrect armor values.

Watched a schimitar eat 250 pen one day like it was nothing tho.

“Rage” Mh.

You mean being factual?

No it’s, how dare Brit tanks be so low br with performance being through the roof. Take any Soviet tank that does as well, up in br over and over. And it’s still odd that the fox / schimitar can eat so many rounds.

Let’s not forget the fox still has the old damage model, not the new one, kinda odd… unless… there’s Brit bias

I don’t know what you expect mate, that’s 1/2" aluminium at 90 degrees. 7.62 will go through.

Cry more.

Unstabilised glass cannon light tank, just shoot it before it shoots you.

The nerf pen would be very unrealistic.

I dont think someone who has a BMP as their most used vehicle really can say anything tbh, you are just infuriated that the players of a nation with mostly sub par vehicles dominate as soon as they have something kinda decent. I reccomend you try them out so you can be crushed
