I have a question about this vehicle. According to what I’ve read on several sites, this vehicle originally guided missiles using MCLOS, and later SACLOS guidance and thermal vision were added.
As can be seen in the images, the game model seems to be the initial one, since a simple gunner sight can be seen.
However, in these other images you can see that another type of scope is attached in which it is clearly seen that it has thermal vision.
I would like to know if anyone has any information on this vehicle, as this looks like Gaijin has taken the 3D model of the initial version and added thermal vision and the missile upgrade without using an updated 3D model of the vehicle.
Some vehicles in the game have models that change to reflect the installation of the NVD modification or other generational upgrades, but Gaijin don’t appear to have applied this to the Striker.
Thanks for the reply, could you make a report on this to see if they change it, although I think they won’t pay any attention, like in most reports.
It must be recognized that gaijin has terrible advisors on the subject of models, they use initial models putting modern systems on them, they give 20 years older bullets to tanks, essentially a disaster of work by gaijin.
An easy solution would be to leave the FV102 Striker as is, leaving only the first missile and being MCLOS balancing the Br at 7.0 or so, and add the final model of the FV102 Striker in the Br 8.0 or 8.3.
FV438 and the current model of FV102 Striker should only have MCLOS guidance, but I won’t be making a report on it until Striker has an upgraded version in the game; either the 1980-1995 with thermals or 1995-2005 version with SWIG.
FV438 gained a dismountable Barr & Stroud Combined Sight with Gen 1 thermal, which entered service in 1980. The vehicle itself was retired in 1985-86.
Striker began with the No.43 Mk1 sight, a purely optical sight which can be seen on the in-game model. From 1980 the Barrel & Stroud Combined Sight was installed, and can be identified by the change in missile controller sight housing.
From 1990-1995 the Swingfire Improved Guidance or SWIG system was developed and installed on all remaining Strikers, changing the guidance from MCLOS to ACLOS (while retaining MCLOS as a backup system). My Striker SWIG suggestion is currently pending so perhaps we’ll be able to resolve this issue soon™.
