Afraid not. Even the EM235 still have manual traverse.
Was something I meant to bring up, IIRC Sabre was power traverse though?
Really?
I think for balance reasons its best it just stays the same then. However, if they did remove power traverse and put it to like 7.3-7.0 I wouldn’t mind
Currently on the Dev Server, the Scimitar is modelled as if it has a power traverse, meaning if you turn your engine off, after some time, the turret traverse gets slower.
Did find a video that shows the turret traversing on a Scimitar in real life. However i don’t know if it is the real traverse or the speed of the clip is changed.
Yep. Always been a major gripe from crews.
Power traverse motors were an option for CVR(t) - one by Dunlop back in the 1970s, and one by Textron in the 1980s which is on Scorpion 90 and probably some other export vehicles. But UK CVR(t)s just have a hand-operated traverse with a gearbox for for coarse (faster with larger angular change per turn) and fine (slower, more precise angular adjustment when aiming).
Warrior has a power traverse for coarse movement, but likewise the gun is still aimed with hand cranks for elevation and traverse. Need for a power coarse traverse on WR is mostly because it’s got a thick, hefty steel turret while Scimitar does not.
Interesting
Did the Fox ever get power traverse?
I don’t know if it did. Foxes were before my time.
But I doubt it considering the Fox’s turret and turret ring are even smaller than Scimitar
Can see it being cranked manually around the 1:50 mark in this video but it’s not the same traverse gearbox unit as in Scorpion and Scimitar
As for Sabre, bloke here has a restored Sabre that’s got the same turret gearbox as Fox. Can see that there’s barely any room even without the night sight and Rarden.
Hand cranks in Scimitar LEP BGTI (traverse just visible over right knee)
There were optional upgrades by Marconi but they were only fitted for trials.
As optional upgrades its really up to gaijin if they want it in or not, they “have” done those for other vehicles iirc.
Well server update, new change for the FCS, the optics still count as FCS for a sadge, but the rest changed. The FCS optics is an iffy 1 to me as if you get sniped by a solid shot and it kills the commander from the front, you can no longer shoot?
the first vehicle “optics treated as FCS”
What i am also worried about in regards to the whole FCS stuff, is the battery. Currently from what the Xray says, if the battery gets hit, the vehicle should not be able to fire.
Yeah, they really should close the image intensifier cover if we’re not getting an NV mod for it. Give that “FCS” a little more frontal protection.
Perhaps worth opening a new bug report ticket to remove FCS from basic optics and the link to the battery?
I read somewhere that they’re planning to remove image intensifier mods completely, and just give you the image intensifier for “free” as Night battles are opt in (not that I’ve ever gotten a night battle since the change tbh) so it might be part of that (the lack of NVD mod)
The other part of that policy is that low BR vehicles (below 9.7) will have no night vision capabilities whatsoever.
I made a ticket that the door should be shut on the Fox if the sight is not functional, and made mention that the same should also be applied to the Scimitar if it’s to have the BR it has

Ah ic ic
So looks like the Scimitar is still 1 of the few/only tank where optics are the FCS on the model still? I cant seem to find any others where this is the case…
Currently, most of the vehicles that have the detailed modules are anti air vehicles or vehicles that have a remote weapon system.
By looking through the changelog of new vehicles and changed vehicles, that also had part of their optics as the FCS, the vehicles i found other than the Scimitar was the Desert Warrior, ZSL92 & Luchs A2.
War Thunder "Seek & Destroy" - Changelog - Updates - Game - War Thunder
War Thunder "Dance of Dragons" - Changelog - Updates - Game - War Thunder
The Desert Warrior and ZSL92 are most likely correctly modelled since the way the have modelled them, they are using a computer system for their sight system.
The Luchs A2 on the other hand is modelled weirdly. The sighting system looks to be an optical system instead of a computer, and it is modelled similarly as the Scimitar as the FCS. However the weird part is what looks to be the turret controls with the “joysticks” is actually modelled as the vertical aiming drive.
