Recently i had to switch to my alternate PC due to technical problems. On my old PC, i ran the game in Fullscreen mode and it behaved as it should: I tab out, the game minimizes and stops using the GPU.
On this PC, setting the game to Fullscreen mode has it acting like it’s borderless fullscreen, i.e. i tab out and the game stays in the background being rendered and not minimizing to the taskbar.
Does anyone have any solution to this problem? I’ve already tried switching between the different fullscreen modes and none of it worked, the game is set to fullscreen both in the launcher and in-game and in the config file but refuses to act like it.
I’m using the same GPU and monitor setup as on my old PC, i have latest drivers installed etc.
Just curious, is there a particular reason you want to use full screen instead of full/borderless?
Doing a test now, the full screen and full/borderless mode act differently for me (and as how you described it worked originally for you). So I’m not sure what is going on for your situation.
But, if you are just wanting to stop GPU usage then try putting a maximised window (e.g. File Explorer, or some web browser) over the game screen. I use borderless mode, and doing this will stop the GPU usage.
It has to be maximised though, not just a window on top of the game.
I like to have the game open so i can tab in and check stuff or play a quick match when i feel like it without it making my GPU work overtime. I also like to be able to access my desktop.
