Fuel you carry on your aircraft actually affects the performance of the plane, is that true?

I’ve read from people saying that the ammount of fuel you carry on your aircraft actually affects the performance of the plane, is that true? or is just a thought? a belief or placebo effect?

I know in real life it actually does affect since oil weights, but in WT I don’t know how far of realism it is. So, Is it real? or we just like to believe is that so

I like to think it’s real but tbh I haven’t noticed a difference

Yes, in game fuel adds weight to your aircraft.

Even the water and oil apparently has weight modeled, including the water for water injection in aircraft like the Harriers

same, I feel no difference but who knows

mmm would like to see it, but I’m gonna keep it in mind

Do you play AB?

Its possible its not something that has an impact in AB?

But I know that when testing for things like bug reports, the amount of fuel is a variable that has to be considered and selected.

What about ammo? If I take no rounds of ammo will I turn faster?

Idk man, you dont need to worry about it as it wont affect ur flight performance too much. I carry all the fuel I can get personally (mostly cuz I’m just spamming afterburner)

I think so?

Dang I’ll just empty all my ammo on my Spitfire and will turn extra fast

This is getting ridiculous. I dont think it matters that much

Nah I gotta have the best specs

A good example/place you can see this have a meaningful impact is if you try to VTOL land a harrier.

If you are above about 14 minutes of fuel (which is about 2200lb of fuel) you’ll find it really hard to hover. Significantly above that, you wont take off at all.

I play RB, in props I only carry 20 min of fuel but planes with afterburner I use full tank, but planes like MiG-27s have so much fuel and I can’t decide if its worth using less fuel to have more maneuverability since it is a CAS

for what purpose? you dump all your ammo, then how will you kill the enemy? Old reliable?

You use CAS? How uncultured.

For Prop BRs, you’ll certainly notice it with climb rate/acceleration but not necessarily turn rate. So Id take the most you need to get through a match/sortie without running out of fuel but no more. If you were to take max for example, you would really feel it, but you probably wont notice the difference between 20 minutes and 25 minutes on an aircraft htat can take an hour

true, when playing fighters and I’m almost run out of fuel and I’m about to engage into a dogfight I like to think I have the upper hand that I’m gonna turn faster xD Idk if its placebo but I win the fight oftenly

Well I’d think you’d definitely notice it in turn time, especially since bombs on props add a lot.

G.P. 500 lb Mk.IV bomb x2 on a Typhoon Mk IIa
