Welcome to the AMRAAM club i guess, I hope you enjoy your stay.
In many cases, it’s not as good as AMRAAM.
It has slightly less range and after the nerf it retains slightly more pull, which effectively makes them the same class of missile - one not fit for the current meta of mid to short range combat where high G pull is prefered.
I really dont have any other point, im just saying PL-12 is in the same boat as AMRAAM which will inevitably push the meta even more towards Su-30SM2 and Rafale.
I mean meta already shifted to Su-30SM2 as soon as it got added.
Before the SM2 addition Rafale was the most meta due to the combination of Flight and missile performance, with the addition of SM2 Su-30’s only weakness has been resolved.
I don’t understand why Gaijin always forces players to choose only one option instead of allowing them to have both. A missile rated for a maximum 38-G turn is limited to just 25 Gs in-game? At the very least, the AIM-120 series can reach their full rated G-force limits in real operational use, can’t they?
They can.
We can only conclude this is intended on Gaijins part, in some weird intent to create and control the meta.
After dealing with GAIJin so many times, what GAIJin did this time is no surprise to me at all. I don’t want to speculate whether it was intentional or accidental, since both of these situations would lead to very stupid changes to the game.

Welcome to the club
Should be a 40G missile btw (barely pulls 28G)
you can outroll it like an AIM-7 sparrow because it cannot pull more than 25Gs now.
We used to say that the AIM-120 was a larger AIM-7, and now we really do have a larger AIM-7.
you can do the same with amraams
and have been able to since they were nerfed over a year ago
No. Not at this range.
You can outroll the AIM-120A from 2 - 2.5 kilometers which is very close, not 7.52
you can roll amraams at that range
I have done it
I haven’t seen someone out roll the aim-120c-5 from 7km+ since they buffed its pull…
I mean, you definitely can past like 20km
but being that you could roll 120A/B at 5-6km im pretty sure you can still roll 120C at that range
repost
Yeah distance Stab to CM is the distance in meters at which the force arm for fins is applied; From my testing and as can be seen by manpads having very low values. And it is, IMO, the singlr most important stat effecting manuverability. A missile can still turn with bad fin AoA, or with bad fin area. But it will not turn with a bad CM to Stab, (for reference, an Aim-54 with a more normal CM to stab value turns like an Aim-9).
And as far as I can tell, yeah, they’re more or less just there as a way to balance missiles. As ive only ever seen 1 missile line up with IRL figures, although I havent thoroughly researched every missile, so there might be one or two more.
Yes, the PL-12 has excellent fin area and angle of attack, but this extremely unrealistic distance from Stab to CM in the latest implementation has almost killed its maneuverability. Gaijin’s balancing this time clearly went too far—even to the point of seeming malicious—because I don’t believe they don’t understand what a value like 0.12 actually implies.
Did they not playtest new PL-12? I saw videos of top tier jets dodging them head-on by simply turning to the side. It’s ridiculous.
We are the playtesters.
