(Xbox) I have weird bug where i cant view one of my friends messages and i cant see him in any of the chats (squadron and squad) and cant direct message him. Says he is muted. This issue is only in the game. Ive tried removing him from xbox friends list and readding, muting and unmuting and nothing seems to fix it. Anyone have a idea on how to fix this?
This is something that hasn’t happened to me for a while.
If the muted message is coming from within the game, it’s to do with the game, not the console itself.
I feel there is a bug lurking in this scenario, is there any way you can post screenshots of the message itself?

The first two pictures is what i see. The third is from my friend. It says im not connected to the chat on his side but i can send messages to other friends in these chats

IIRC when it was happening to my friend, it was sporadic and sometimes would let messages through, and then sometimes not.
It was really weird.
It was also him using a console so that could be something with it.
Should make a chat channel and all join it maybe.

I created a chat channel and my friend joined. I cant see his message but it says message blocked by privacy settings so we are getting somewhere. We are going through our settings now

Did you accidentally blacklist him?

Blocked by privacy settings is possibly a message that comes to the person who is in thier blacklist.
So maybe as @SadLamer said, maybe he has you blacklisted.

If that’s not it. Try restarting the game both of you - sometime that fixes the weirdest things.

We just tried that. My friend can see my messages now but it still shows all of his messages blocked by privacy settings. Ive flipped all the settings on and off
Does the context menu ever change or show other options?
That’s what I get when I right-click anyone who has me blacklisted.
Comparing your shot to mine, it’s quite different. You can go to the live networks card as well as the war thunder profile. It’s interesting.

No, i dont even have the option to blacklist. Thx y’all for helping. Im out ideas of what to do. Im probably gonna try my xbox privacy settings as the last thing
