Hello everyone and welcome to this new suggestion!

Today I’m proposing a new emblem for a French naval air squadron: that of Squadron 16F.

Squadron 16F is a naval air squadron of the French Navy, created in 1955 in Hyères. Initially equipped with the Navy’s first jet fighters (the Aquilon), 16F participated in numerous conflicts and operations. Notably, during the Algerian War, it was tasked with providing air support to ground troops. Like many French units, Squadron 16F was disbanded during its transition to a new aircraft type; this occurred in 1964, and the unit was then reformed as a photographic reconnaissance squadron, flying the brand-new Étendard IV P (some pilots flew the Étendard IV M during the transition to the IV P). Deployed from the aircraft carriers Foch and Clemenceau, 16F participated in all major conflicts, from the Red Sea during Operation Saphir to Lebanon during Operation Olifant, and the Adriatic Sea during interventions in Bosnia and Kosovo. In the early 1990s, the need for photographic reconnaissance decreased, and this role was taken over by more modern aircraft. However, 16F remained with the Étendard IV, benefiting from its modernization to the PM standard (16F being the only unit to receive this upgrade). When the last of these aircraft were retired in the early 2000s, Squadron 16F was disbanded. Its emblem was then taken into custody by the Naval Aviation Heritage Center (CEIPM).

Its emblem depicts a crane holding a stone in one of its talons.

Planes :

  • Aquillon
  • Etendard IV P
  • Etendard IV M
  • Etendard IV PM

In the game, this emblem would be a great addition for France, which currently has very few unit emblems available. It would allow players to decorate their aircraft in the same way they were during real-world deployments.
