Free Look camera inverts to underside view when activated (controller / relative control)

I’m on PS5 console, and I’m having an annoying issue with the free look camera while flying.

Whenever I activate free look (D-pad Down) during a match, the camera frequently snaps to an inverted view looking forward or at the belly of my aircraft in an array of different directions instead of staying aligned with any normal expected, useful, or previous relative control orientation.

This usually happens if the aircraft has recently pitched or rolled before I activate free look. Instead of starting from the last view or a forward view, the camera appears to recall an incorrect offset and flips to an upside-down orientation.

The only reliable workaround I’ve found is pressing the reset camera bind every time I enter free look, which often gets me shot down.

Has anyone experienced this with relative control enabled, or found a configuration that prevents the camera from defaulting to an inverted belly view?

Thanks for any suggestions.
