FPS drops beyond playable

As much as I like the reworked “Advance to the Rhine” map, it doesn’t work at all. Let me elaborate:

On EVERY ROUND it’s the same problem: FPS
The first 5 minutes are completely fine. I get my desired FPS goal, graphics are stunning.

After those 5 minutes, my frames drop to half their original value. It’s still playable, but annoying. Turning Ray Tracing off did nothing, lowering graphics to minimum also did not have any effect. I played around with the settings and nothing worked.

After the first FPS drop it only gets worse. Doesn’t matter what graphics settings I have, it goes down to 5 or even less FPS and is completely unplayable. My GPU is below 20% usage, dipping down to less than 5% sometimes which means that the map is very badly optimized.

I tested a bit further and found out that flying planes or helis around restores the FPS as long as you DON’T LOOK at the main tank battlefield. The moment I try to bomb, get close or just look towards the map the frames vanish. But staring into the distance or flying far away does not affect my FPS whatsoever.

And no, it can’t be my PC. I have a 5080 and my NVIDIA drivers are up to date.

Does anybody know what could be causing this issue?

For me it was using ray tracing and the NVIDA AI option.- my FPS was down to 20 or lower when it was active. I turned it off in the game’s graphics options, rebooted and am now back to 150-220 FPS with ground games.

Your mileage may vary.

I’d do a clearout of the compiledShaders folder, (as well as the cache folder to cover all bases,) and try again, especially if it’s been happening to you since the map was redone.

I remember when Flanders was brought in peopel were having FPS drops, and that had some people had it cleared up by clearing these folders. Mainly the compiledShaders as they relate to smoke and other graphical bits.
