Bug Report: CPU temperature significantly increased after Tusk Force update (Ryzen 7 7700 + RX 7800XT)
Platform: PC
Game Version: Post-Tusk Force update (September 2025)
System Specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700 (non-X)
- GPU: Radeon RX 7800 XT (clock manually limited to 1800MHz via AMD Adrenalin)
- RAM: 32GB DDR5
- Motherboard: ASRock B650 PG Lightning WiFi
- Resolution: 4K
- OS: Windows 11
Issue Description:
After the Tusk Force update, my CPU temperature increased by 7–10°C under the same game conditions, without any change in CPU utilization or settings. Here’s a detailed comparison:
- Before Tusk Force
- War Thunder (Ultra settings @ 4K)
- CPU: 62–65°C
- GPU: 1800MHz, ~59–60°C
- FPS: ~120
- CPU usage: 30–35%
- After Tusk Force
- Same settings
- CPU: 70–72°C
- GPU: 2200MHz (unless limited)
- FPS: 80 (drop of ~40 FPS)
- CPU usage: still ~30–33%
- Even on EXTRA lowest settings, CPU temp remains high (~70°C)
Temperature is stable and normal in test flights / test drives, but as soon as I join a regular match, the CPU temperature increases by 6–8°C within 15–20 seconds, without any spike in FPS or CPU load.
- Reapplied thermal paste (no change)
- Set game to minimum graphics (no change)
- Changed API: tried DX11, DX12, and Vulkan
- Disabled overlays, background apps, power-saving modes
- Limited GPU clock to 1800MHz
- Monitored CPU usage — stays at ~30%
- Nothing else on my system shows abnormal temps
P.S. I don’t know what your engine team is doing over there — but after this update, my CPU started cooking itself like it’s prepping for a winter in Siberia. I’ve seen better optimization from modders.
