Ive been using the R-Darter with Grippen C but i just feel like they dont work with TWS. They have like a 9.8m launch distance but if im going to be high at that range im going to be shot down easy. I have been using them in PD mode, locking with BVR then firing when in range but when I disengage the lock, do they still work/travel towards the target using PD? Or will they only work in TWS?
TWS or hard lock (any mode) will guide the missile to a certain point (I cant recall the range for any Fox-3 of the top of my head) at which point the onboard radar takes over and your lock does nothing anymore.
9.8 miles I assume? I think might be within that range.
TWS Does allow you to guide multiple missiles onto different targets. But I quite often use ACM to quickly lock and fire at closer targets with AMRAAMs in the Sea Harrier
So if i use PD ACM (TWS → BVRM (PD ACM)) i can fire at multiple targets or 1?
As ACM mode is 19km which I think is about the range that the missiles take over, you should be able to ACM > Fire > ACM > Fire , etc etc
I will give it a try. Its just the R-Darters short range of 9.8 miles that means i have to get close to use them, by that time i already have like 4 missiles coming for me.
