You simply don’t play well if you don’t understand that having armor with weakspots is huge difference from having none.
Heavy tanks are already harder to kill, because you need to aim at their weakspots, while they have time to just aim at your center mass and blow you up. While you do so, you also often only disable part of their tank, not a whole thing at once, which gives them another chance in many engagements.
They shouldn’t be immune frontally, just look at the example of KV-1E or old 4.7 Jumbo. This is what happens when the tank is as survivable as you would want every heavy tank to be
Even against a T-34-85, a tank the same BR as the tiger, its only functional shot on the turret is the cupola. While it can aim for the MG slit, it is incredibly screwy with volumetric.
I would say it’s crazy how you’re able to get such a full analysis of my capability and or skill from a singular post. But cool I guess. 76mm guns don’t have an issue with front armor sure, but other guns do. Doesn’t change my answer, not that I could anyways. And I don’t trust Gaijin to do what this intends to do without some detrimental effect to the player. So yeah, it’s a no for me.
my guy I have said I give zero shits about realism for post-pen damage, balance is the main concern here, just because its realistic doesnt mean its balanced my god
Well this isn’t true at all. Gaijin said themselves that it wasn’t intended to stop kill stealing. Fixing that involves making assists count as kills as other games have done. That would solve the issue. But Gaijin doesn’t want to do that. The severe damage mechanic was a terrible addition to the game and do wish they would get rid of it.
I remember when people made fun of WoT because “hitting the edge of a corner of a cupola would deal severe damage even though realistically it would deal none”.
Now suddenly everyone here wants exactly that in War Thunder, because otherwise “it would be too hard to kill the tanks designed to be hard to kill”.
We may aswell just go and replace the crew/module mechanics with HP bars too.
This is not a valid answer. Describe how according to you it will be more fair.
You are wrong. Do you really believe a huge direct buff will not bring their stats up enough for gajin to skyrocket their BR? That is very very optimistic of you
If you belive there won’t be any need of balance changes after this gets implemented, then i guess there is no reason for me to talk with you any further, you clearly don’t understand the game well enough. How will for example Tiger Porsche be fair at 5.7 without it’s only weakspot?
But i can think of plenty that require their user to be absolutely braindead for the enemy to even have a chance to shoot at it.
It will not be effective at shooting some certain areas like cupolas anymore, which is what this question was about.
No, it is exactly about that. APHE wouldn’t even be a problem if other shells were just as good.
No. This game is a mix of realistic mechanics with non-realistic compromises for the sake of gameplay. No one would play this game if you had a chance for your modules to randomly break, or you couldn’t turn your gun through obstacles.
You don’t ignore realism, but you take it is a guideline and then make some changes to make the game enjoyable to play
