Edit:
So that does not seem to have anything to do with the Wishlist and is a guest account thing in of itself.
Edit:
Oh, alright. Thanks for sharing.
It can’t receive any either. Which was my point.
Well… you didn’t say that…
but also, isn’t that kind of obvious as you have to accept the gift through the email before receiving it either way.
Unless they’ve changed it so that is all ingame as part of the wishlistiness mechanic now.
they do say in the main post:
How do you add things to wishlist that are not displayed/visible in tech tree?
Tried that. Don’t think you can because even if you can get to them from the wiki, there is no way wish/buy from the preview screen.
With the new Steam integration, it made me think of this, have you considered adding “rich presence” from Steam’s API for Steam’s actual friends list to show off what mode/nation/map you’re currently playing, to your friends? @Stona_WT
There is more information about this here for you/developers to look at. Enhanced Rich Presence (Steamworks Documentation)
Here’s an example image from the link above:
With War Thunder it just says that you’re playing the game and it’s not too exciting in my opinion.
This might not be a necessary addition but I think it’s one that a lot of people would appreciate and it has potential to increase interest in the game to new/old players by showcasing what their friends are doing on War Thunder, you could even display any ongoing events like Mad Thunder to “advertise” the events.
Surely this won’t be used by Gaijin to collect data on what vehicles are desired and adjust sales and prices because of it…
Maybe not quite as you thought:
a vehicle that sits on the wishlist of 1000 people but none of them buys it, means there is demand but the price is too high.
I reckon they might use this info to offer a sale on such a vehicle, to trigger a percentage of the people wanting it into buying it NOW (because it will be on sale only for so long… ) - instead of rising the price further, making it even less obtainable.
Say they offer a 30% off a vehicle that costs $30 to make it $20, and 20% of the people having it on the wishlist buy it, that means they generated 200x$20 revenue that way, compared to leaving price unchanged or even rising it, which would result in them not generating any revenue.
To be honest, I don’t see anything wrong with that. It’s a pretty good business strategy, that gives them more options and data.
Something that is not so nice is their idea to describe such changes as based on the community feedback. I seriously doubt most players prefer to see a wishlist instead of e.g. the devs using that development time to improve the game UI. And the UI in War Thunder is terrible, it really feels like a 10+ years old UI.
For example, a huge problem for me are presets. In total you can currently have 18 presets and only 13 can be easily accessed. Maybe for many players that’s good enough, but if someone plays all 3 game modes (Air, Ground, Naval) it really is a huge problem. But the devs haven’t touched this element for years.
It’s actually funny on this 2024 roadmap you can even find some bug fixes. It sounds a bit ridiculous, because this roadmap is based on the community feedback (there was a survey that everyone could participate). So the question is, if not this feedback, the devs wouldn’t care about these bugs? Shouldn’t bugs be fixed anyway, doesn’t matter if the community wants them to be fixed or not?
It’s just weird for me how some things are listed on the roadmap. When thousands of players write their feedback, it gives Gaijin a nice choice of what to implement and what to ignore. If for example 1 person from 5000 wanted a wishlist to be added to the game, should it still count as “the community wanted this feature”?
Gaijin currently chooses all the features, and we don’t even know how many players have proposed these features. It’s quite obvious that they will choose features that they wanted to implement anyway, and other features that will benefit them in some way.
Maybe the whole roadmap should work differently? Maybe they should take like 50 of the most common ideas from the survey and allow players to vote for 20 of them that will be implemented this year. I don’t know, I’m just saying this roadmap based on the community feedback looks weird to me. Of course it’s better than nothing, but it doesn’t mean this system can’t be improved.
Can profile icons, earned from History pages, be used for Steam accounts?
Next step is adding ability to send WL to other players with small cost of Golden Eagles.
Imagine how much profit Gaijin could get from resellers
there is demand but the price is too high.
This is the reality for every single vehicle in the game.
To be honest, I don’t see anything wrong with that. It’s a pretty good business strategy, that gives them more options and data.
It’s just being pushed through under false pretenses as some sort of community wish when it’s just a business thing, and because it’s likely not going to work in the favor of the player, as it never ever has, I’m not a fan of it.
Vehicle sales are getting worse every time as it is, we got all those useless personal deals now as well which they probably want to fine tune as I doubt many people felt compelled to spend money on 500 GE discounts which were then negated by insanely overpriced boosters and SL they tried to sell along with it but no one wants.
Nothing like a 1300 GE vehicle sold for 1700 GE as it that’s a deal.
My problem is that this is just targeted at people who don’t know how bad of a deal it is, being dazzled by the LIMITED PERSONAL OFFER!!!
FOMO ALERT
Suck up alert! You’re special!!
There are sales with 50% discounts… why would anyone ever want this? No sane person would, just those who lack self control and get tricked into an impulse purchase.
It’s quite obvious that they will choose features that they wanted to implement anyway, and other features that will benefit them in some way.
This is how they operate, it’s always the illusion of choice… you ask someone if they want to have a pizza or Chinese food for dinner and they get to choose, as if you didn’t already limit their choices to two things you are both okay with so you’re happy either way.
Maybe the whole roadmap should work differently?
Gaijin should stop faking transparency and actually be transparent, doing it through a survey means we have zero idea if any of what they are saying is actually true, they could have easily done it through a topic on the forum so we can verify what is being said is what is being done.
The fact they do not do this is enough reason for me to not trust it.
In the case of the wishlist I doubt they will do anything malicious about it. In theory they could (e.g. don’t do a -50% sale on the vehicle that most players have on their wishlist), but I’m not sure if that would be a good strategy. Because many players can just resign from the vehicle completely and Gaijin gain nothing from this.
So even from their perspective, regular sales are a good thing. And I’m a good example of this. I never bought any vehicle without -50% of higher sale. Without these sales, I simply wouldn’t buy anything.
And if they decide to put personal offers based on your wishlist (what can actually happen) I don’t see a problem with this strategy. If someone wants to buy a vehicle, add it to the wishlist and wait for the next month salary to buy it, but in the meantime gets e.g. -30% personal offer on the vehicle (and nothing more) then this offer is only benefitting such player.
And if someone adds a vehicle to the wishlist and wait for the next -50% sale, he doesn’t have to take that -30% offer, he can ignore it. I seriously don’t see this as a problem.
End of the year sales are always the same -50% on almost everything. They sometimes split different packs between November and December sales, and they don’t do sales on vehicles from the last 2 major updates, but most vehicles you can buy with -50% sale.
This is something I don’t like and don’t support as well. I also think these deals are targetting new players, who don’t understand how the game works yet. This is a bad practice and I wish they never added such things to the game. I don’t mind -30% personal offers on the vehicle alone, but adding these boosters and SL is not nice. But I saw that some players on our forum were very happy to see the SL for GE in personal offers.
Keep in mind I’m looking at things from the perspective of a player who has 115M SL at the moment. So when I see Gaijin make a personal offer that will give me additional 300k SL, it really looks hilarious. Especially I can get that 300k SL in just one Naval battle. But that’s just my perspective. I simply ignore every single one of these personal offers.
Not likely considering you effectively send your wishlist to anyone you send a “friend” request too.
I don’t think even Gaijin is down enough to enable spamming other players begging for free vehicles…
in the meantime gets e.g. -30% personal offer on the vehicle (and nothing more) then this offer is only benefitting such player. I seriously don’t see this as a problem.
I also think these deals are targetting new players, who don’t understand how the game works yet.
That’s why it’s a problem, taking a 30% deal because you want to is one thing, taking a 30% deal because you think that’s the best deal you will get is another.
They sometimes split different packs between November and December sales
Which is dumb, but I’m glad they didn’t add the Type 16 to the December sale as I was planning on getting it, so this dumb sale tactic just costs them and saved me money.
But I saw that some players on our forum were very happy to see the SL for GE in personal offers.
Only new players could possibly be happy with 200k SL for 420 GE or whatever, it’s a bad deal.
Even if you don’t make 300k SL in naval, which only applies to the higher ranks anyways, which you and 3 other people play.
