HISTORY
Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace is the world leading supplier of remote stations, and they have been working on these and developing them since around 2001. The Remote Station on this vehicle is the CROWS - “Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station” and is a series of weaponstations used by the United States Army. Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace was earlier awarded a huge contract bu USA to continue building, developing and delivering this sytem. This specific remote station is of the 153A4 CROWS and is built by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, and it is equipped with the Tech Refresh wich is an update to the weapon system wich enables it to carry the Javelin missile launcher and various other changes such as new thermal sights capabilities.
This vehicle along with one more identical vehicle has to my knowledge had the 153A4 CROWS integrated by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace themselves specifically to demonstrate and exhibit it at the 2022 AUSA event, with one in Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace’s boot and one in Flyer Defence’s boot, to show its potential to both the USA army and other visitors present at the event.
These vehicles in this combination was first seen at the annual AISA event in 2022, the vehicle is armed with a single 12.7x99mm M2 Browning machinegun and an additional javelin anti tank guided missile on the upper right corner or the weaponstation. The vehicle does in the rear compartment inside its own sort of box intregated in the vehiles booth, carry 6x additional 127mm Javelin ATGM missiles.
IN GAME
This would be an interesting and unique vehicle in the game, this can be added to both Norway and USA considering this is an cooperation between them, and could play the role as an light tank/atgm carrier type vehicle. Superb mobility and a little protection aginst machinegun fire, it could be a nice vehicle for “Boom and zoom” ground wise.
