Just come back after about a year out and it’s taking an extra 20-30 seconds to spawn in, it’s like I am “joining an already active battle”. By the time I am in-game half the team has crossed the map. I never had this problem before. This isn’t specific to ground rb - It happens in air and naval also. From “Joining Game Session” to the vehicle selection screen it takes an average of 53 seconds.
It cannot be anything to do with my drive speed as I am running on an SSD. I have checked the game files and deleted the cache… I’m at a loss…
AMD RX470, using low textures as I’m on a 4GB card. I get a solid 60fps with my settings. My settings haven’t changed since I last played. Fresh install improves nothing.
My system:

Have you asked AI what the issue could be? I got my battle eye issue fixed faster than asking others that way.
EDIT: It was faster than submitting the ticket and going back and forth with Gajin.
Fixed
I had nearly 1GB of files in the game_logs directory including numerous .dmp files so I made the following directories read only to stop unnecessary writing to the drive…
$HOME/.config/WarThunder/.game_logs
$HOME/WarThunder/.launcher_log
$HOME/WarThunder/.start_app_logs
Now the game plays as it should with no silly 50+ second spawn in time. This also fixed random jerkiness in the main nation selection screen which was very annoying.
The cost is that if the game ever crashes, there’s no dump to diagnose it. Sounds more like a workaround than a fix.
Yes it is a workaround but it has solved alot of issues I have had using the Linux client. Some of these issues I have lived with along time before the extended spawn in time I posted about above.
The game now loads quicker…
No jerking around when assets are loading both in-game and in-menu…
Mouse movement is smooth…
The game quits cleanly without a crash dump every time. I know some people have complained of this crash dump issue recently…
I guess the Linux client is more prone to writing even it’s most minor complaints in error files considering how many different (and exotic) configurations there are and I can live without crash dumps and log files so all is good…
Cheers!
