First Generation Harriers discussion about flight performance and capabilities

I want them for the Sea Harrier.

Fun fact they improve the handling of the harrier.

improve??!??!!?!?!?!

Yes they would interact with the thrust from the nozzle and along with the surface area would give you an increase in lift.

As well as reducing buffet and what have you but the nozzles can do that on their own.

So, essentially, they improve lift?

Improve lift AND high AOA control lol.

Not that it would make any difference in war thunder since the harrier can’t even come close to its IRL max AOA

MMMMMMM, they would make hovering more difficult when equipped, though I’m sure.

No, basically no difference there

the drop tanks are imbued with Belkan witchcraft XD

The Harrier is sprinkled with pixie dust fr fr.

However it not effecting the hover makes perfect sense as all the pylons and stores where designed in such a way that they remain central to the center of mass.

yeah that makes sense.

Yes and longer loiter times with more lift would be epic.

I’m still waiting for them to buff the Harrier than you can just say nope to anyone who tries to turn fight you.

I can already beat the F-14D in a sea harrier and it’s modeled like ass.

it can defeat an aim120 by literally doing nothing lol (hover mode activate)

Good luck doing anything back to the person who launched it lol

The look on people’s faces when they come in to fight a harrier expecting a free kill only to be killed moments later when it just magically turns inside them.

Was reading this again, when using the nozzles it generates a pitching force so great that you need to push the stick forward to stop it from doing a cobra…

It would take away the novelty of their great Sukois. As this tiny plane from the 60s would do it better.

It’s criminal just how badly they undermined the harriers dogfighting abilities.

They also did this apparently

I really need to write a suggestion for an option to toggle automatic release of fuel tanks, that way they remain even when empty unless manually ejected

Would be a good addition especially for the Shar, however I really don’t see them adding them soon.

It’s an old plane and was added years ago gaijin is too busy doing other things.

Yeah, though they’ve also not been adding any fuel tanks recently, I do wonder if that was because of deconfliction with fuel dump code. So there is hope they might now resume doing so and Harriers would be a fairly logical next one with 14 across 4 nations
