First Generation Harriers discussion about flight performance and capabilities

Yes its been buffed.
Only issue is to truly experience it you need to be using WEP.
Fly around with WEP power and you will see just how ridiculous it is lol.

Along with the combat flaps being added that can add an extra G or so to ITR.

(I have had no trouble beating MIG-21s on the dev server)

(When virtual engineers from Hawker watching Pegasus engine in my harrier)
XD

They adjusted the temps so you can actually stay in the red for a long time.
( I am currently writing a report as they have it incorrect)
I think the devs are having a hard time wrapping their heads around just how stupid the Harriers TWR was.

Thanks for the extra tip, sir. ;)

OFC. it probably wont be like that for too much longer.
Than 100% throttle will be what WEP is now and WEP will become warp drive

Just curious as I saw a datamine with a ton of harrier changes, did the shar FA2 get improvements too or static as is?

From my testing it got the same buffs as the other shars maybe they just forgot it in the datamine.

that is a significant relief then, I’ll have to go try it myself.

Devserver Takeoff-Max Test, Full WEP, no vectoring

Live server Takeoff-Max Test, Full WEP, no vectoring

It might just be me, but here’s a takeoff test so that you can compare, it might just be my client being outdated or somesuch but it feels like the difference is negligible?

Not sure your doesn’t look right though.
I have a difference in speed of like 100 mph by the end of the runway. Yours looks almost the same

I reckon I’ll wait for your video (+ when all the harriers get changed on liveserver) before making a judgement

I made a short comparison.

My findings was that on the dev server by the end of the runway the Shar was blasting through 530 MPH
on the live server it was still trying to get past 430 or so by the end of the runway and would need until the ocean to match the dev servers runway speed.

Dev server turn time is noticeably faster.

Bug report on the virtual instructors stupidly low AOA limitation. Harrier 1 Mouse Aim AOA limit // Gaijin.net // Issues

After more conclusive tests on the Dev server the Harriers are still underperforming by a fairly considerable margin. STR seems to settle around 12 degrees a second compared to almost 14 IRL.
This video I did a quick test at 475 Knots this is where the Gr.3 IRL can sustain 6G according to the E-M diagram. (5 pylons nothing suspended, Guns ammo, and 2/3 internal fuel 15-20 degree nozzle angle)

(With 66% fuel, guns ammo, and 5 pylons with no suspended ordinance 17 degrees nozzle.) Using Normal lift rating or 100% throttle the sustained G was only 5.4
With Short lift wet it was only increased to 5.8

As it stands right now the Harrier needs more thrust at 100% and 110% throttle.

So according to that test its performing with the nozzles at 15-20° about what it should be with nozzles fully aft. Yikes there’s still more performance missing.

Yes quite a bit too lol. My test was run at about 17 degrees nozzle angle.
There I could sustain just over 12 degrees a second compared to the 14 or so it should do.

The Virtual instructor also limits max load factor by a substantial amount almost nullifying some of the buffs.

I’d like to ask, now that the update is finally out, could you see if the changes made it into the live game? I understand there has been some mussing with the changelog (such that apparently the harrier FM changes have been de-listed, if they were there at all) + varying opinions among the people I’ve asked, so I’d like your opinion on it.

if it’s worth anything, the HUDs are changed and that’s listed on changelog - just not sure about the FM.

The HUDS are still bugged and the flight models are still not correct.

The Harrier FM changes were never on the change list for some reason.

Still though it is better overall but it’s FAR behind what it SHOULD be.

Seems the new Harrier FM is better than the last one.
but still worthless while the fight against MiG-23ML spam, or shamelessly underrated J-7D.

Just as expected. :/

it seems there is no meaning for playing SHar FRS.1 series over GR.3 or T.10

Maybe this shows what Gaijin thinks about Harriers, maybe?

Yeah you can easily beat said J-7 no you just need to be below 15,000 feet and you have to play in the vertical to bleed it of speed.

Takes way more effort than it should.

You should just be able to turn WITH them and always have more energy due to the insane TWR.
