Devs: “Clearly a marketing lie, we will nerf the FM more, and while we’re at it add on a couple hundred degrees to the engine temps because we feel like it.”
But seriously hopefully the devs actually look at this and actaully fix the Harriers. Or at least buff them a bit to the point where they aren’t as manoeuvrable as lead block in the hands of an infant.
Well I am yet to hear anything. Could be a year or more if we are being honest unless people actually complain.
Just for you folks I’ll test the aircraft in this weight and configuration so we know what it needs to be buffed by.
All in all the Harriers IRL turn performance is actually better than I originally thought. This makes the lack of performance in game really sad. The Harrier would basically maneuver as a really high TWR Hunter if modeled correctly and at low altitude could easily energy trap enemies while not losing almost any energy yourself as you have a stupid amount of thrust.
To add to this from what was learned in the Sea Harrier Frs.1 manual a whole .5G can be added to ITR at 400 knots with the use of mid flap setting.
It seems like the Harriers maneuverability, acceleration, and advanced avionics where just as deadly if not more so than the AIM-9L during the Falklands. Despite many people claiming the the Harrier was no good at all without them.
I was watching videos on the Harrier vs Mirage dogfights during the Falklands and thinking what they were describing would never be possible in WT. Now we know the Harrier’s true flight performance it makes a lot more sense as to why they performed so well.
Yeah hearing stories about them is what made me start all this to begin with. The Harriers massive TWR and good aerodynamic design would allow the Harrier to bleed other jets of their energy long before the Harrier is at a disadvantage.
