There are already many related discussions on the forum, and this is one of the overload comparisons with other missiles
The red dashed line represents the PL-12 before the nerf, and the blue dashed line represents the AIM-120D before the buff.
LOL
can’t imagine how powerful su -35 can be
At least CN got su35
Dear gaijin, I just did something, the PL-12’S center of mass in real life is 1.55 meters away from the tail fin, I calculated that by using Xcm = sum of (Mi multiplied by Xi) over the mass of the pl-12, now I’m not going to go through the whole calculation since its gonna take long, but since you guys model MRAAMs differently due to some limitations, CM’s are usually way lower, so lets start off with my first point, the AIM-120’s CM is 0.17 in the game files, which means your “fix” is inaccurate, the PL-12 is supposed to have a CM of at least 0.2~0.25 since its actually more maneuverable than the AIM-120s, this is because the PL-12 has more surface area to create more lift which is supposed to make it more maneuverable than the AIM-120, but also make it have more drag due to the higher surface area, but making it have an extremely inaccurate CM which is 0.12 is actually diabolical, if you wanted to make it for long range you should’ve ATLEAST remodeled it or decreased its drag coefficient, but you instead nerf its vertical stabilizers and give it an extremely inaccurate CM without telling us, please stop being lazy and either remodel the PL-12 or change its CM, I am begging you gaijin.
the PL-12 is supposed to be more maneuverable, and its literally confirmed out of pure physics, an airframe that produces more lift is supposed to be more maneuverable, which is supposed to be the case here, the PL-12 has bigger fins than the AIM-120D, which is supposed to make it more maneuverable
Thank you for your efforts, friend. But unfortunately, gaijin only wants to believe what they want to believe. They will not accept conclusions based on “calculation” and “speculation”.
its so over

I don’t know how you use them, but my PL12s on J15T work perfectly on BVR, definitely better than those from the Aim120 family
yeah but the main issue is the PL-12, PL-12As and the SD-10(A)s are fine at the moment but the PL-12 only got a turn time nerf and it didn’t get any more range unfortunately
Because the J-15T still has fairly decent airframe performance (although it is not particularly impressive compared to other 14.7 aircraft), and the PL-12A has had its long-range performance improved, allowing it to outperform the AIM-120D at certain engagement distances, the PL-12A is able to complement the J-15T’s strengths while compensating for its weaknesses.
However, the PL-12—which was simply nerfed—and the aircraft carrying it have not been nearly as fortunate.
Keep your calculations and reasoning intact. Perhaps when the next test server opens, we can publish them. By then, Gaijin will likely become more active than it is now, and our feedback may be conveyed more effectively.
i will open a mismatched physics bug report if that will work, and dont worry im very unemployed, i could do this till they actually fix PL-12’s
dont spam bug reports tho , or you will be banned from making them
yeah dw im gonna write an essay with my own diagrams and calculations, and also show some diagrams from the forums
They will not accept it vro.
Just accept that it’s over 🥀

nah
Same I think the extra speed catches ppl off guard sometimes.
But I do miss its old off bore performance whenever I start going into closer range.
the real center of mass distance from center of lift irl doesn’t mean anything to gaijin, a lot of values they put for some stuff in the missiles are completely fictional (fin aoa, center of mass, etc)
but comparing it to other missiles does matter, but oh well, they rejected my request on the issues forum so ig theres nothing we can do
