I had a look at the new high tier air base in test flight: Very nice, and much more immersive! Love it!!!
I assume those will become standard for all high tier matches in all game mode, yes?
And hopefully the improved test flight coming also to all other aircraft, not only the latest added aircraft?
Some ideas/suggestions:
Spawn positions:
Atm, it’s only possible to spawn on the runway. For added immersion, possibility to spawn also “on the plate”, in front of hangars etc. would be welcome, escpecially for Sim: Not very immersive to star one’s engines up right on the runway, no?
It would even make sense and motivate people to use such an option if one gets a reward (just like after successful landing) if one starts up on plate and taxies to runway, and after landing taxies back.
Immersion:
As beautiful as the new airfield is, it lacks “Life”… Why not add parked vehicles and aircraft, for optimal immersion based on player’s country and tier? It works for the hangar, after all…
Mission relevance:
Those bunkers are very inviting for precision munitions: Are there any plans to upgrade Sim’s airfield destruction mechanics? Make individual bunkers, buildings and taxiways/runways destructible and functionally relevant instead of the very rough, not immersive at all destruction zones we today have…
Say there’s 8 aircraft shelters: Knocking on eout would increase repair/reload/refuel time by 12.5%, knocking out two by 25%,…
Details:
I take it this airfield hasn’t been in operation for a while? There’s grass growing into the taxiways everywhere… ;-)
Also, the construction worker that put the taxiway lights onto the taxiway instead of at its border should get his paycheck reduced…
Finally: Are those hangar doors supposed to be rotating or sliding? If sliding, sliding them open will sure be hard with the rollers mounted like this, heh heh!
if they are supposed arming areas (removal of the remove before flight pins) the floor should be also layed out with asphalt/concrete and the dirt “wall” itself should be higher
In some future additions id love to see some Fencing arround the base and the addition of more Administrative buildings and barraks near the base (also maybe some road networks near the base so that it is not just sitting in the wild with out a connection)
I love the new test flight map and the new modern airfield but I feel like this is unfinished on many levels.
I totally agree with you on what you wrote.
Here are few more ideas from me
Add more acting npcs and make the airfield alive. Have some trucks or cars going around. Some stationed jets and helis. Maybe also add some flying helicopters around the base and some drones too.
Add a zones where we can test RWRs, MAWs and other electronics to get to know how they work in test drive. Something similar to the APS test in the ground forces.
Some of the test flight maps currently on the live server have NPC aircraft on the ground in their diorama, so it should be possible for these new modern ones to get something similar:
It would be nice to see some more different targets around the map, like some ground convoys, more naval targets like Battleships and Carriers, and some more air targets that aren’t MiG-15’s
Idk if its been mentioned but one thing I would like to see in some capacity would be the ability to have hostile SPAA/SAMs off in the distance so you can have something to practice against.
Might need some work on the AI for it to be decent but it woulf still be a nice thing to see overall.
Otherwise so far the new test drive is a very nice addition.
The Rework of the Test Flight has been looooong overdue, so this is greatly appreciated.
However while Bases and some Ground, Air and Naval Targets are there, it lacks variety in my humble Opinion. So this is just a Suggestion.
For ground i would also like to have Pillboxes, Bunkers and all the normal Ground Targets you have in Air modes to bomb.
Moving Columns of more than two Vehicles would also be nice. And as others said, having a Vehicle shoot at you in the distance might be helpful, e.g for planes that have Flares.
For Air Targets i think more than two would also be nice. There is only one at a certain hight, a few more, not necessarily in a formation, would be nice. Oh and also some variety would be nice. Bombers and strikers for lower tiered Vehicles, and maybe low flying strikers for higher tiers. That way one could also test Radars at ground level etc.
As for Naval targets, more variety would make sense here aswell. The biggest target currently is a Heavy Cruiser, so no Battleships, no Carriers, no light Cruisers and no MTBs ans smaller Crafts. All those could be added. And just like ground a few should or could be moving aswell. Oh and maybe one could add some submarines at different depths for testing depth charges when the time comes for them ;)
Oh but i dont think that Ships should Fire at the player in the Test Flight, most likely one gets just deleted before one could test what one wanted to test.
On a more personal Note, i find it a little sad to see all the Individual Test Flight maps go, they have been around for ages and i find it regretful that the new systems are not just placed on those. You could always leave the four Options of Denmark, Ladoga, Tunisia and Afghanistan in there, just let every nation (and some sub nations) retain there old Maps (Even if you cant have big Naval Targets on some of them like the German one, one could just switch :) )
Oh and like others metioned, a few allied NPCs everywhere could make for a nicer Atmosphere.
That would be all.
I want the old national tests to remain an option. We’ve been using those maps for 10 years. We don’t want to part with them now.
Most of the new tests are around Europe. I’d like to see maps around Asia and America included. If possible, one map that represents each country.
There needs to be a bit more variety in the air targets. It’s especially extreme that the only targets at low ranks are biplanes like the I-153.

I’d like to see the new WW2 airfield assets. Modern airfields don’t look good with the “warbirds” that make up the majority of the game.
There are more units that attack with SAMs and the like, but we need a function to turn them off. It’s true that they’re located far from the airfield, but they’re a nuisance when you want to fly freely.
New test flights are really nice and welcome addition. SAM test is one step further I haven’t expected, though I’d love to expand it with more SAM systems than just Roland.
Maybe “IR SAM test area” against Stingers, “early SACLOS test area” against Rolands and then “late SACLOS test area” against Pantsir/TOR?
The AA test is really great to see, honestly it’s really fun to fly around there dodging the missiles, hopefully we see more added like some IR guided SPAAs to defend against. But one thing I must say is that the 2 that are there now are too close together, it would be nice to have them spread apart a bit further.
Also when test flying naval aircraft a carrier spawns which is great but there should be a spawn option to spawn on the carrier instead of always on the airfield. Also having the carrier on the map always would be nice to see just so you have the option of using the carrier in other aircraft.
