Fair Play: January 2025

Our main goal is to ensure War Thunder is a fair place and that all players get their frags and victories through their own efforts and not with the help of third-party software. To find and ban players who use prohibited programs, we use anti-cheat systems and check player complaints. You can use the battle replay function on our website to report players who you suspect have violated the game’s Terms of Service and the License Agreement. Instructions on how to do this can be found here.

Banned accounts

Since our last fair play, we’ve banned 4802 accounts that were found to have violated the rules. Specifically 3.2.3 of the EULA namely in the automation of gameplay (using bots) and cheat software.

For complete transparency, we’re publishing the full list of these banned players. This list will be available for two weeks after the publication of this article.

Recommendations

We recommend that you set a strong password for your account and enable two-step authentication in your profile security settings. We have the following 2FA options available: email, SMS, TOTP (Gaijin Pass/Google Authenticator), and Telegram bot, which we suggest trying if SMS 2FA messages are not reaching you.

We’d also suggest that you turn on 2FA for the email that is linked to your Gaijin account for additional security, as this will protect your account from fraudsters. And remember, don’t use prohibited client modifications and never share your account information with anyone.

I find it impressive that your were able to identify a brand new account (registered 20.01.2025) with 6 Arcade & 3 RB matches in total.

Respect!

Imho it would be great to know for the community in which game modes those guys were active or get caught. I see a lot of speculation about this.

You might consider a column AB/RB/SB to stop these wild guesses?

Have a good one!

@OrsonES There is an YouTube channel that is focused on exposing cheaters in WarThunder. Why is Gaijin not looking into community pushed reports from there as well ? The content creator brings to highlight the quantity of cheaters that plagues the game. It would cost nothing to review his videos and issue verdicts on the offending players.
Granted, those are videos on already reported players, but lots of them are not getting banned at all.

…so all the relevant information required is already provided via the report. Those videos offer zero additional value…

Sure costs: Time and resources better used for the processing of the reports sent the official way, that contain all relevant info…

It’s interesting seeing the growing number of squadrons where the commander and any deputies were banned together so the squadron essentially dies, and just becomes a list of other banned players because no one can be promoted to manage them (you can still leave a squadron if you’re banned, and any previous officers can accept new members if anyone’s stupid enough but that’s all you can do). Examples: Profile of squadron capitalism Profile of squadron Nirnava

Here’s another one where the entire squadron was basically banned 2 days after being created: Profile of squadron hunzi. Looks like it was another attempt to start a naval bot squadron.

If I did get banned, and if its false, how do I appeal it, and can I see what caused me to get banned, it just says unsporting behavior and says i’ve used 3rd party mods, which I havent.

➤ In case you suspect someone else took control over your account (and got it into trouble…) please contact Support.

Please remember also: People often undervalue the use of 2-step-authorisation. A well protected account is important to prevent someone can get illegal access to it and get someone into trouble.

Even if that happens, the responsibility for the accounts security lies always with the owner of the account, meaning that if the players don’t protect their accounts, they might have to face the consequences if their accounts are used to perform illegal actions by others…

Surely all of them is innocent and never have used a hackbot?
That or «a friend» played on his account.

Came back from a 4 week vacation last summer to 800+ mails.
Must be what you get with the banwaves

I agree to both of your arguments, but the issue still stands - players reported months ago who are still cheating are not banned.

I do not know how you internally handle cheating. Like, does it require any confirmation by software means that he is indeed cheating? Are you using statistics (heuristical methods) to filter possible cheaters? Hopefully not only by eye inspection in replay.
The normal players are getting frustrated over this, since we would expect swifter action.
Waiting an entire month for someone who blatantly cheats and you meet him several games in a row feels very unfair and discouraging.
