[Fair Play] Fair Play: April 2025

Each month we share information about accounts that have been banned for cheating or for violating the TOS. We thank you for actively reporting players who aren’t playing by the rules: it really helps us! You can use the battle replay function on our website to report players who you suspect have violated the game’s Terms of Service and the License Agreement. Instructions on how to do this can be found here.

Banned accounts

Since our last fair play, we’ve banned 4,268 accounts that were found to have violated the rules. Specifically 3.2.3 of the EULA namely in the automation of gameplay (using bots) and cheat software. For complete transparency, we’re publishing the full list of these banned players. This list will be available for two weeks after the publication of this article.

499 more accounts have been banned for a week or more for intentional teamkills.

Recommendations

We recommend that you set a strong password for your account and enable two-step authentication in your profile security settings. We have the following 2FA options available: email, SMS, TOTP (Gaijin Pass/Google Authenticator), and Telegram bot, which we suggest trying if SMS 2FA messages are not reaching you.

We’d also suggest that you turn on 2FA for the email that is linked to your Gaijin account for additional security, as this will protect your account from fraudsters. And remember, don’t use prohibited client modifications and never share your account information with anyone.

Nice, its always good to see the game take care of cheaters. I’ve played games where they don’t, and it’s not good.

Nope, that bot raising 0.01gjc every 3min on J26 David (Sweden) is still there.
upd: he removed his lot, hmm 🤔. Maybe saw this post.

“CEO of racism” is banned, this is revolutionary!

oh my got so many bot accounts got banned XD

About 40% of the banned accounts have been created after Dec 2024. So they are most likely returning customers and will perhaps be found in lower tiers.

People who are identified as cheaters are put on a list. Every ban wave they are randomly picked to get banned. This prevents the cheaters from being able to tell what cheats were or weren’t picked up. (This is all from my understanding and what I’ve heard about the banning of cheaters in the gaming industry, this is apparently the most effective way, even if some cheaters remain temporarily).

They’ll get banned, it takes time.

Gaijin does implement process to try and prevent them from just creating another account correct?

I saw that you caught a B-18B with a bot script (https://warthunder.com/en/community/userinfo/?nick=Snowbinz) i reported several times. Nice!

Why not publishing these gamertags?

I mean to get a 1 week ban or more you need a hell of team kills, so in order to give the player base who adheres to the ToS a positive feedback there seems to be nothing wrong with a little bit of public shaming - and it might have an educational effect plus a deterrence.

Just google the effects of toxic behaviour to players - it has basically devastating effects on younger players (u have a PG 12 game) on their psychic health if they become repeatedly victims of toxic behaviour - so the long term health of your “law/ToS abiding” players should have way more weight than the rights of temp banned players which have proven that they won’t follow the rules.

Edit: Grammar & clarification.

Edit #2:

Btw: @OrsonES:

It would be nice if you could automatically delete perma banned players from personal blacklists.

And as requested earlier:

Plz extend the friend / blacklisted numbers from 200 to 500 or 1.000. I usually blacklist 4 player types:

  1. Team killers
  2. Guys spamming blatant racism
  3. Guys with “rat” game play or sweatlord squads.
  4. Guys which spam nonsense in team/all chat.

So whilst waiting to spawn at the start of each match i check the enemy team and my own in order to avoid unwanted surprises.

As I see daily a lot of team killing i ran out of possibilities to flag them - years ago. It would be great to have a higher number of blacklist opportunities.

If you want to be perfect: Implement the possibility to add a 2 letter code to personal blacklistings in order to distinguish them. Playing with a racist is less detrimental than playing with a repeated team killer, in the first case i can ignore chats, but in the second case i have to constantly look behind me…

Thx in advance!

probably so that people don’t constantly harass them after they are able to play the game again, after all they are already being punished (not supporting them but that probably a contributing factor to why) but IDK for sure that’s just my guess

As I said, 40% on that list have joined since dec 2024. Doesn’t that answer your question?

There is certain ways to circumvent certain permanent ban actions. So no it does not. A majority of them had been post Dec 24 so my question still stands. Can we expect next ban wave to consist of more possible repeat offenders?

Rat playstyle also existed in air rb? thought it is only a ground thing
