Both these planes have similar top speed, similar TWR, similar turn rates (according to statshark). So Why is one 7.3 and the other is 8.0?
The Banshee is slightly heavier but that doesn’t seem to make much of a difference. The Cougar does produce more thrust with WEP but that is very limited. Without WEP the Cougar might even have less TWR than the Banshee
Only thing i see is that cougar can dump fuel to get 10min at start of match and that does improve it but otherwise isn’t it the same plane?
Edit: im talking about the F9F-2. not -5. That one actually has a much better engine so makes sense.

Well, if we set the F9F-2 at 10m of fuel, its acceleration, instantaneous turn rate, and sustained turn rate should be noticeably better – even without WEP. You can check it out in statshark by tweaking their attributes.
Other than that, the only other noticeable things are that the F9F-2 doesn’t compress as much as the F2H, has 760 rounds of 20mm instead of 600, and the F9F’s flaps rip at higher speeds.
The F9F-5 also gets infinite WEP, same with the F-80C, unlike the F9F-2.
The F9F-5 is absolutely goated at 8.0 currently, and so I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets moved up to 8.3.
Though, I wouldn’t be opposed to the F9F-2 moving down to 7.7, where the F-80C used to be.

I checked in test flight and both the F-80C and F9F-5 don’t have infinite WEP. There was a bug sometime ago where some U.S planes got infinite WEP including the cougars and the F80C.
Strange. When was that fixed? And what are their WEP limits now? Why was the F-80C moved up to 8.0 if it wasn’t buffed in the end?
Both run out of WEP after a minute or so. It was quietly fixed without any mention at all.
