F8F-1's rudder fix makes it one of the most demonic planes to fight in 4.7

Naaah… I can’t wait to see F8F-1 go down to 4.3BR as long as I see all those bearcats just go ground digging or initiate low-speed turnfights against Zeros. :/

Major Skill issues in the American team, which made F8F get buffed, will make them buffed even further.

I did 3 matches in the A6M5 Ko, fought F8F’s and they were pure poo poo. Still remember using the Yak 3 VK107 and encountering two 3-man squads that used the F8F in conjunction with other meta planes, I’ve never seen a team get swept so fast that wasn’t in Top Tier. Edit: my team not theirs

Game gave me a talisman on it when I was already Rank 6 on the American TT, but I still love playing the F8F.

F4U-1A with water injection is already at 2.7. F8F which is literally 1945 superprop staying at 4.7 in this game, it can stay there since that’s what most players can feel right. Just because utilizing the speed can lower the KD of A6Ms to 0.2, doesn’t mean A6M5 should be at 4.0. The problem I find is that F8Fs are controlled by 80% idiots with 0 concept of energy and speed, and 20% good players clubbing with it. Making it stressful to deal with good F8F players. Because of the dispersion in the player skills, you can’t be sure if a random F8F is controlled by a decent player or not unless checking their in-game player stats. Even if the team rolls against the US-containing team, just seeing so many F8Fs above me is putting stress over my mind. They climb at 27 meters per second at the ground, and they reach 680kph top speed in deck due to the ram air intake at gear-cut producing 2850hp. It goes 700kph TAS in 5000m anyway, though the reduced horsepower. If statistically, and demographically balanced, I’m fine with it placed at 4.7. The BR should be corresponding to the average skills of the players. Also “US mains are bad” is myth, since A6M players are doing the same tactics, turning. And they are just happened to be adjusted to the “dumb” playstyle, whether the players understand the concept is not the point. I’m just saying the typical “A6M easy, US aircraft takes skills”. But damn it has a performance of 5.3.

I use MEC on the F8F-1, and trust me it’s such a monster. It can climb at 25m/s at 100% throttle. It should really be 5.0-5.3 at this point, plus them fixing its sudden rudder lockup at high speed gave it such an edge. Prior to this I rarely flew it out because of how annoying its rudder lockup can get, now I average 3-4kpb with it.

If it went from a sharp increase near the end, to a gradual increase after the patch, and the end values are still the same, its actually a nerf to the f8f, as now it compresses more at middling speeds than it did before, and the critical speed compression is the same as before.

I make typing errors when I feel rushed, and that tends to have me to unintentionally leave out words and thoughts that are necessary.

I really don’t understand the F8F-1 hatred. I’ve been playing alot of 5.0 Germany (mainly Fw-190 D-9 and Bf-109 G-2) and F8F-1s have been pretty easy to take down.

F8F-1 is a hard-to-balance type of plane.
Heavily undertiered airframe combined with overrated weaponry.
Bad player basically does even worse than P-47 thanks to fewer 50cal ammo to grind the ground.
While a good player literally lit everything on fire and let everything burn to the ground

Feels like F4U-4 but flying better while having worse weapons.
I think you faced only bad players who playing it

I mean, those typical US mains which does sucks bad in XP-50 that broken for years.

meanwhile if you see someone fly the f4u7, you run for the hills because if anyone’s flying that thing in ARB, it probably means they know what theyre doing and they will snipe you from a km out lol

Well… it is true that F8F-1 has slightly lighter weaponry compared to its counterparts, right…?
(Which might be one of the reasons why F8F-1 is heavily underrated)

Even though I also had no problem to killing targets right after unlocking the [laser beam] belt.

IMO with short experience about F4U-4 and F8F-1,
Their true enemies are not colored red, but colored blue and green instead.

I wasn’t skilled enough to deal with 2 A7M or Ki-84 ko at once with my F8F-1. :/

yeah, but not to the extent its ACTUALLY mega difficult to get kills

I would argue that the U.S. pilots are not that much to blame when the very gameplay loop gaijin made goes against how U.S. planes are meant to be used…
