Hello everyone, and welcome to this new proposal.

Today I present to you a new ship of the F67 class, the Tourville (D610).

The first ship of the class and the one that gave it its name, the Tourville is a vessel of the F67 class. This class, designed for anti-submarine warfare, was designed in the 1970s to replace the first wave of this type of ship built after the Second World War to revive the French Navy, notably the Aconit frigates. Aiming to be efficient and modern, this class of frigate incorporates the latest technologies developed by the French defense industry, notably radar and sonar.

Construction of the Tourville began in 1972 and it was commissioned into the French armed forces in 1975. This ship was primarily deployed in the Atlantic Ocean, participating in ocean surveillance and the detection of submarines passing through it. In 1995, a major overhaul saw the addition of a brand-new sonar, the SLASM, to the ship, providing improved detection capabilities. From the late 1990s until its retirement from active service, the Tourville traveled, accompanying the carrier strike group in the Mediterranean and particularly in the Adriatic Sea during the various conflicts in the former Yugoslavia. It was also deployed in the Indian Ocean to participate in the fight against drug trafficking. The ship was decommissioned in 2012 after having traveled more than 1 million nautical miles.

The ship is named in honor of Anne-Hilarion de Corentin, Count of Tourville, a 17th-century sailor. He participated in many of the military exploits of the time, notably under Duquesne, before rising in rank and being entrusted with larger fleets in 1990. He commanded the French forces in major battles against the English and Dutch, notably at the Battles of Béveziers and Barfleur. Decorated as a Marshal of France, he died in 1701, having left his mark on the French Navy.

Characteristics
  • Length : 152.75 m

  • Width : 15.80 m

  • Draft : 6.60 m

  • Mass : 6,100 tons

The ship is powered by 2 Rateau steam turbines and 4 boilers, giving the Tourville a power of 58,000 hp allowing it to reach a maximum speed of 32 knots and a range of 4,500 nautical miles at 18 knots. The ship’s electrical power comes from 2 turbo alternators and 2 diesel alternators.

The crew is made up of 299 sailors.

  • Missiles :

    • 6 x MM38 Exocet missile launcher
    • 1 x Crotale EDIR missile launcher (8 missiles + 18 in hold)

After 1990

  • Guns :

    • 2 x 100mm Mle 1968 canon
    • 2 x 20mm autocanon
    • 4 x 12.7mm machine gun
  • Torpedo :

    • 2 x torpedo launcher (up to 10 L5 torpedo in hold)
  • Missiles :

    • 6 x MM38 Exocet missile launcher
    • 1 x Crotale EDIR missile launcher (8 missiles + 18 in hold)

The Malafon launcher allows the launch of a “glider” directed by the ship and initially propelled by a powder charge (maximum speed of 800 km/h allowing a maximum range of 13 kilometers). This glider carries a 553 mm L4 torpedo which it releases at the desired moment in order to hit a target more precisely. The firing coordinates and the release distance are provided by the launcher ship’s sonar.

In addition to these weapons, the ship carries two Linx Mk4 anti-submarine helicopters from the 34F flotilla equipped with active dipping sonar and Mk46 torpedoes (12 torpedoes stored on the ship).

In-game this F67-class frigate would be an interesting addition, being able to bring a ship different from the other ships of its class, having had an additional 100mm turret in place of its Crotal missile launcher system. Thus adding an interesting ship in the French tree
