F3H is really fun after sparrow buff

the f-3h literally accelerates like an f-5c until 800IAS. The F-5C is 10.7. The F3H is 9.0. The only things that out accelerate the F3H are the f104, the mig19, the lightning, the f101c and the j35d, things that are at 9.3 with 10.0 performance held back by their lack of suspended armament, thing that the f3h 100 percent has. F3H is the strongest 9.0 airframe, meanwhile something like the CA27 is just a fat sabre that only excels at ratefighting certain 8.3 aircraft while getting folded by anything that flies 8.7 past because it has no extending privileges despite it’s engine, thanks to it’s rather poor acceleration, people frag on it like crazy because enemies are stupid, but i’ve never seen it as a strong aircraft. It gets folded by most stuff at the BR.

once people learn not to climb too high

what? they’re getting aim7c kills at sea level with terrain in front. Having F3Hs in one of the teams already decides which team is going to lose. F3H presence is enough to leave everyone below 1km of altitude and as such they will never have an energy advantage. This shit is just like F-5sE’s and MiG21Bis vs MiG23MLs and F-4Ss all over again. Except the F5E and MiG21Bis see ML and F4S in uptiers and we se them EVERY GOD DAMN MATCH because THEY’RE 9.0 AS WELL.

Hi, i call you from the future where you say the f3h is very bad and i have a skill issue for dying to flocks of them.

Never said that. You won’t be able to quote it either.

Didn’t say that either. You have a skill issue because you do badly in game then complain on the forum about doing badly.

I love this plane. I hope it gets moved to 8.3 and given aim-9p

It would not get the AIM-9P since that was an export version of the AIM-9J so the US never used it. Only the 9j. Also the AIM-9J is an air force sidewinder, the navy didn’t use it, instead making their own missile, the AIM-9D. If it were to be given either, it would move up even further.

BRUH Aim 9D on this thing would actually make sense if we consider it going up to like 10.0 like some people are saying

i typed 9 instead of 7 my bad

It wouldn’t be able to get the AIM-7P either because that missile entered service long after the F3H-2 was retired. And the radar on the F3H-2 would not support the AIM-7P’s datalink.

I think his comment was satirical

Oh well then I completely missed that lol

even a very new player will put two and two together and notice how fast the f3h compared to the turtle that can barely outspeed WW2 props

? What do you mean? Are you talking about the Vampire?

Do you think the missile was historically accurate before? It was hands down the most useless missile in the game. Way worse then the R. 511. You couldn’t even hit the bombers in test flight because they are constantly turning. They wouldn’t have even fielded such a worthless contraption and the new model has to be more accurate. So they are unlikely to reverse the changes. It will go up in BR through the normal mechanism. The AIM-7C was a brilliant example of how the Gaijin staff doesn’t play their own game or that the ones that do have no power to initiate changes.

They rely too much on their statistics based balancing system. And care too little to think for a moment or ask someone who has any knowledge about the game.

One of my biggest gripes with the playerbase… nobody is ever told how to properly climb in transsonic (or supersonic, but that’s another matter) jets! So allow me to go on a tangent for the benefit of the lurkers…

Once you get out of the straight-wing era you need to accelerate to mach .7 or higher depending on your planes acceleration and engine power and maintain that in a climb. You will end up higher and faster than someone climbing at 500kph at the end of the couple of minutes of climb phase you have.

In order to illustrate this point rather crassly, here’s a chart comparing someone who just points their nose at 20° after takeoff and watches tiktok reels vs someone who accelerates to mach .7 and maintains that during a climb in terms of both altitude over time and energy state over time:

Now you tell me which of these two is better off once he reaches combat altitude, or even after only 50 seconds of flying in terms of how well he can react to an enemy appearing?

And no, i don’t mean to imply you should climb to 6000 meters in a sabre, they obviously favor lower altitudes and higher speeds, but as you can see in absolute energy terms you are still better off accelerating first and then climbing even if you are only climbing to 2-3km, which is about 600 meters below the crossover point where the faster climbing sabre will not only be in a higher energy state, but also at a higher altitude in absolute terms.

To be honest, the sabres are not a good example. Especially the later variants because their engines produce considerably more thrust at high speed, whereas most other jets have a more linear thrust relative to air speed.

The sabres are one of those that should be at pretty high speed before climbing. Most other early jets produce their highest thrust right from standstill, and as they get faster, lose their thrust gradually but just a little, in general.

From 500kph-600kph true air speed, most early jets can reach their maximum climb rate. Most will have better thrust at slower speeds but due to the AoA they fly at those lower speeds, they get increased drag, so it’s not optimal for most.

Climbing at like 500kph instead of like 800kph also acts as a side climbing of sorts so you don’t get into the first engagements, but the problem is that sometimes people do that while being AFK in uptiers where there are much faster jets that can ambush you while you remain a sitting duck, so staying at 700kph+ is much safer

The changes made it downright OP, really. They should make the effects of them way less pronounced, or they could nerf the tracking of the 7C/The F3H’s radar against ground clutter.
