F2H-2, engine overheating and sim: What's a good power setting to use? Also, carrier take offs and landing gear

Hello!

Been spading my F2H-2 - it’s been marked as a good beginner jet for korean war by the big plane difficulty chart.

However, even in ARB it seems to reach permanent oil overheat at just 15 minutes of flying at 95% throttle.

That seems highly dangerous in sim seeing how at prop tier at least, I regularly can take ~20-25 minutes to engage my first target in lower pop lobbies or denmark.

On test flight, practicing carrier landings with it I also noticed it rips off its landing gear after getting catapulted. Is this normal? Even trying to close gears asap I often lose my nose gear.

Sooo… any advice for using this plane in sim somewhere like Denmark where time between engagements is fairly high without killing my engine, and how to avoid losing my gear on take off.

According to Jets - All Nations (6.0 - 9.3) - Air RB - Performance Guide it runs hot, will need 89% throttle max on a hot map.

I guess you could try taking off with the air brakes out

Regarding, the take offs and landing gear popping off, try pulling the nose up more on take off to keep the speed low until your landing gear is up.

Regarding the overheating and engine death, I havent tried it on jets but this works on nearly every prop. When the engine starts to drop in overheat threshold do this to see if it “heals” the engine from overheat wear.Try:

-Turning the engine off,
-once it is in the white, leave it there for 15-30 seconds.
-Then restart the engines.

let us know it that works.
