F15e blu27

Is there a reason then F15E dont get the BLU27 ?

Did it ever actually carry them?

I haven’t seen it mentioned on the F-15E suggestion posts.

Napalm sort of went the way of the Dodo in the 90’s, when everyone came to their senses and realized how horrific it was.

That can be the case yes.

Should just give it the thermobaric bunker busters instead through the BLU118/B or BLU 121. Even the Cluster bombs CBU 87 and 97 would work as fill in. Not like the F15E is hindered by carrying ordinance. I’m not even sure if the earlier F15’s should have napalm either as BLU 27 was removed from use on August 22nd, 1983. You can see the document yourself under its name Mil-B-38624 which was the letter the Air Force sent for the cancellation of the weapon.

Thermobaric bombs will serve no purpose but to look cool in game, hopefully they copy the sound effect from the Reaper’s thermobaric blast from Generation Zero, because that is one of the best bits of sound design i have experienced in gaming

But F16c, and F15J can still use that, which means in theory the F15E can use that as well

whats blu27

napalm bomb

Which is surprising considering the US still uses white phosphorus directly on people and buildings with people in them, which is significantly more horrific a chemical than napalm. They do however use the legal loophole of pretending they don’t and just saying that its an accident if anyone gets hit by their white phosphorus, or the other legal loophole of pretending to care about international law until they run afoul of it.

It is kinda hindered in sim. The F-15A/C can kill 4.5 bases in one sortie without impacting its air to air load, or 3 bases with an extra fuel tank. The F-15E on the other hand can only kill 2 bases (if it sacrifices half its AAM’s) or 1 without impact to air to air load beyond being unable to carry any fuel tanks. It can however kill the bases from much further away.

Base killing being the single most efficient method of winning a sim air game.

Having improved multipliers vs bases just like napalm would be a valid use.
