So I guess you’re one of those people who consider the A-10C overpowered.
The Aim-9M literally has the worst IRCCM of any IRCCM missile. There’s numerous aways to defeat it, none of which require any more skill or special circumstances than a normal 9L. Maybe a few more flares but that’s about it.
The missile at the br is op, but in combination with the slow plane it is not overpowered
Aim-9M works extremely well but needs to be babysat.
Where R-73 and Magic II’s effectiveness is dictated largely by how close you are to the target (and unlike Aim-9M, are actually usable in short range dogfights) Aim-9M requires firing them the right way, at the right target, at the right time.
I’ve slapped enough aircraft with them in the GR4 to know this is the case (Got a double kill against Su-33s the other day with them)
The problem is that they are the weakest kinematically and HOBS vs No-HOBS is a major balancing issue. But beyond some bugs, the IRCCM on the Aim-9M is fine.

They do great in top down or side on attacks at around 2-3km depending on your speed and relative altitude
The issue is the Mig-29 did exactly what you wanted him to. Just fly in a straight line for the Aim-9M’s entire travel time. That’s probably the only time he’s gonna die to an Aim-9M before doin a lil research.

The 9M is the best missile for any environment where it’s smokeless motor actually makes the missile less visible (GRB/Sim), the fact that people don’t see the missiles, gives the IRCCM time to shutoff more effectively, compared to a magic or R-73, this also applies to when someone isn’t spotted in ARB, launching 9Ms without the missile indicator is extremely effective.
This all corroborates what I stated earlier, that they aren’t furball friendly, but in other circumstances are the best (or 2nd best to AAM-3) missiles in game

Which is the whole point of the 9M, and something you are meant to take advantage of, if you aren’t then no wonder you think it’s bad
The reason I know it’s bad is because I fought it. The 9M isn’t a large upgrade over the 9L by any means.

tbf the aim7m sucks ass and r27er beats it every time, but yea the F15A flight model is good and 4 aim9m is pretty decent
Oh for sure, im not denying that. But they are still there. Mid radar missile > nothing.

Not to mention the very recent decompression of top tier to 14.3 made the F15A much, much better now since it wont face EF2000 and Rafale in constant uptier anymore. It became pretty potent and I love playing it again. Good flight model, great engines, good IRCM missile, what more can I ask for in a plane lol. The aim7m is the only real complaints I got about the F15A, other than that it’s a great plane at 13.0

Precisely. Im waiting for anniversary sales since I have a lot of things to buy across several trees but im looking forward to playing F-15A so much now.
My only regret is that I didnt make it to ADF when it still had sparrows but what can one do.

I dont think the problem is that the F-15A is too high of a BR but that the Fox-3 tier is too compressed into the 4th Gen SARH launchers to be effective.
IMO the highest tier should be at least 16.0 to allow the Su-27, F-15A Gripen A, etc to breathe and be used to their full potential
