I think the F-14D needs the AIM-7P for its Inertial Guidance (IOG), especially since squadrons like VF-11 historically carried them during operational service in the 1990s. The second an enemy notches your radar, the AIM-7M just loses lock and blows itself up. With the 7P, the missile would use its own internal memory to keep flying straight during those quick lock drops. Once your radar hooks the target back up, the missile would just reconnect and hit them. It flies exactly like a 7M, but it would give the plane its real loadout and stop our radar missiles from being useless against basic chaff.

Both F-14D should get access to Aim-7P-2
