F104S being 11.3 together with the mig21bis, given that the mig21 has better missiles and infinitely better flight performance than the f104s, this is a crime, this plane should be 11.0 even more so now.
Only the f104A/C were problematic because they are underBR for facing subsonic jets.
Now the other F104s were never op, they were planes with different and fun gameplay.
If the br changes didn’t affect the j7 D/E, why do they affect the f104S?
It doesn’t make any sense
Whoever has the opportunity, play with the F104, to feel how bad the plane is, especially the S model onwards.

U were talking about aces and stuff and according to the stats u just have 2.0 KD ratio. I also had 2.0 KD ratio on F104S (not TAF), then I got many unlucky matches and got 1.75 and what can I say… This. Was. PAIN. In some matches it’s an ace, another time it’s Matra Magic from nowhere, and flares won’t help u.
Well, I guess that’s why I chose this plane – a challenge. But come on F104S has 6 very mediocre-useless rockets: easily flarable, u need to use deflection cuz the rocket doesn’t turn well at at when launching (and this is a problem, right? F104 was stuggling with basic maneuvers as well before the nerf). Of course no radar rockets cuz radar is a complete crap
F104 ASA is even a bigger joke with mediocre Aim 9L rockets imo(at 12.0), useless Apide cuz the radar is still rap AND U FIGHT F15, F16… Right…
Now, some1 would mention that RWR doesn’t show direction… Come on guys, that wouldn’t help this plane cuz F104 was unable to notch even before the nerf. Like, if MiG 23 shoots R24R headon in 6 kms, u can already eject.
As one would say, a regular MiG 23 player can make many mistakes and still rock, while a “oppressed” Italian F104 fighter sometimes can’t be allowed to make a minor mistake – u found urself in front of F4S, MiG 23, MiG 21 Bizon in 6 kms? It’s over. And maaaan, like… Mirages with unflarable Matra Magics? Noice.
AND NOW, the nerf is so bad that in American early F104 suck ass. At first I got 4.0 KD (first 20 kills) somehow on F104C when I was constantly downtiered, but then I lost everything after A-5 shooting me with Matra Magics, different planes boomzooming and shooting me with something better than AIM 9B, or Harriers that can shoot u from 2 km with AIM 9G.
The flight model nerf is massive. It couldn’t turn before, now it’s over. Acceleration is worse in practice cuz slightest movements bleed energy, making 90-180 degrees turns put u below 900 km/h, iirc shooting M61 feels even more wobbly.
No sorry, it’s over for the time being, dead planes.

Yes, my KDR dropped to 2.0 after it went to 1 BR below F-14B, which meant it was largely balanced there.
So it’s balanced again due to the reduction in BR from the decompression.

Calling 9Ls average is hilarious.
Flight model nerf changes nothing really. It went from boom & zoom to boom & zoom.
F-104S is one of the best 11.3s in the game.

heres my take after getting the f104s just recently. The thing is facing f14s and f4s basically every game due to the brackets causing it to constantly have to be on the deck. It get 6 9js facing jets with just as many radar missiles let alone ir missiles. Its rwr is sub par (the one on the asa at 12.0 doesnt even tell you direction) and its radar can barely lock anything. This thing cannot and should not face jets with pd radars every game, so either move it down to 11.0 where it can only see 4 jets with pd at most or increase the br gap between them by increasing the br cap.

The asa just needs a massive buff, and ecm pod would do wonders for it. The thing has 4 9ls on an airframe that could be at 10.0, it should be 11.3 in order for it not to face too many jets without flares.

ASA simply needs its inherent ECM qualities implemented (that is why its RWR is so bad in game, irl the RWR was also that bad but its because it was fully unneeded due to the ECM package covering all of its bases basically)

then they should of just moved the F104A and C up to 9.7 or 10.0 as people stated that they dominated the entire 9.3 and down bracket and could only be contested by the F8U2 after the recent BR changes

That explains the RWR…

“F-104S is one of the best 11.3s in the game.” ur stats literally don’t represent that. U have much more than 2.0 using A-5. Similarly people have much better time flying any F5, any MiG 23, any MiG 21, flying F14 with 6 AIM 54s is easy 2 kills without doing anything. These planes can be considered “best”, not when u sweat to get at least 2.0. U played 42 days on fighter planes, now imagine a newbie being unlucky to buy F-104S TAF or researching Italian nation without premium plane.

No man… again, simple maneuvers of 90 degrees bleed energy and put u lower 900 km/hour. Making 180 dergess turn takes ages and u end up with 700-800 km/hour.

And yes, of course AIM 9 L is mediocre when u’re being killed by AIM 9 M and when u fly against MiG 29 and F15.

Going slower makes your notch angle wider and makes it easier to notch

My stats show that F-104S is in-line with all other good jets I’ve used.
Also I exclusively used A-5 when contrails weren’t a thing, so that’s similar to using the F-104S when it was 10.7.

The moment contrails became a thing I stopped playing A-5 cause the meta tactic was destroyed.
F-15s are 13.0.

F104 TAF was already terrible, now it is literally unplayable in any uptier (which is 95% of the matches).

11.7? Good look trying to evade a Mig 23 with it’s R24 headon even if you are hugging the trees, 12.0? Good look against AIM7F and Magic 2s.
12.3? Enjoy 4 F14 spamming phoenixes and Fakours (idk why the F14 Iranian isn’t in 12.7 already because of the Fakour, specially after the buff).

F104 is in essence a boom and zoom plane to climb and hit people on high speed passes, but those that sit on 11.0 and above can’t do the ONE thing they are good at because of radar missiles, and in a pencil that turns worse than a 2.0 bomber, you can’t defend… hug the floor? Same thing, you can’t dogfight, and in a headon you die if the enemy has radar missiles.

ASA is 12.0, wake up.
Basically u and me are not mediocre players. Having 2.0 KDR flying F104S is an ACHIEVEMENT, not a a given. Plus, I got these stats before the nerf, now… Nah, sorry.
Come on man A-5 can still have two undodgeable Matra magics 1. Actually yeah, this is one of the planes that kills F104 A/C easily when diving to F104.

Unfortunately, having lower speed these days DOESN’T HELP F104, at all. AOA isn’t increased AT ALL at 800 km/hour, instead u’re just a slower, more vulnerable target.

yes but said subsequent models have been completely destroyed in gaijins attempt to balance, they wouldnt of changed the FM of the F104 if there wasnt such a fuss over the lower BR ones completely dominating, causing people to dig up stuff to nerf it.

rather than just up the BR of those two, what happened was someone went n dug up the FMs for the F104 in general and has subsequently destroyed teh capability of any F104 that is above the A and C models in the US tree.

Now what will happen is eventually these F104s will come down in BR and stomp lower BRd lobbies.

and the compression continues

All my posts are on F-104S, which is my expertise.
You responded to my post on F-104S, not ASA.
@Italy_Suffers is an expert on F-104S ASA, not I.
So talk with them about ASA as their takes will be ones I trust.

Also having 2:1 KDR in F-104S when that’s my average KDR for gen 3 onward fighter jets to begin with is not an achievement for me individually.
Having that average across all jets is an achievement, but F-104S having it just means it’s balanced at its BR.

And no, man, I mentioned AIM 9-L and called them mediocre, and u find this statement laughable. But, only F104S ASA has AIM 9Ls, so that’s not my problem that u didn’t know that.
