After playing the F/A-18C for several hours on the dev servers, I’ve come to the conclusion that it doesn’t really fit the current meta as a 14.0.
I see two possible solutions to address this issue. The first would be to downtier it to 13.7, although that would be a bit disappointing for such a highly anticipated top-tier jet. The second solution would be to equip it with the AIM-120C.
Given its relatively poor top speed, weak acceleration, and subpar energy retention, the F/A-18C struggles to compete in BVR engagements and also loses out in close-quarters dogfights against more maneuverable aircraft like the Su-30SM, Rafale, Typhoon, etc. Providing it with the AIM-120C would help it hold its own in BVR, even without a top-tier flight model.
Good luck on convincing Gaijin to add 120Cs lol
It is far more achiveable to just reverse some ARH nerfs from July 2024.

Gaijin thinks that the F/A18 has 10 AIM120s, which is too “strong” and enough for it to rival other 14.0 fighters…
No,
If we gets AIM-120C on F/A-18C
then forum will be spammed with
“Why no AIM-120C on F-15C/E, it is disrespecting USAF, Gaijin” :/

How about everyone from Gripen to Eurofighter get it?
Ohhhh I can’t wait to see Tornado F.3 Super-Late both armed with AIM-120C and ASRAAM after when all those charades end.

I mean yeah that’ll do too
F-16C/AM/A OCU, JAS39C, J-11A, M2K
All of those are worse than the Hornet at 13.7. Under no circumstances should it go down. Ask for higher BRs above the Hornet (Ex: 15.0) rather than asking for compression.

Yeah people are going to complain for sure but i think it’s pretty obvious why it wouldn’t be a good thing to add it to the f-15C/E
Yeah sure a higher BR would be great but it seems like gaijin doesn’t like doing that …
F-18C is the 3rd best airframe at 14.0.
AIM-120C is the same range as B until C5.
F-18C accelerates about as fast as Rafale, F-15C, etc.
In-fact, F-15E and Typhoon only accelerate 3 seconds faster than F-18C.
F-18C also has the 3rd best energy retention at 14.0, only 5% less energy retention than Rafale, and better than F-16C and Su-27SM/J-11B.
Su-30SM is the worst airframe at 14.0.
So yeah, if F-18C moves to 13.7, so does all F-15s, and the Rafale at the least, and in-realty so would Typhoon.
Keep all 14.0, and make F-15C/JM 14.0 as well.

if somebody in an f/a18C will loose to a su-30sm in any circumstances they must be mentally challenged

Do you even play the game ? When you get below 1000 kph you bleed all your speed in a second, then with the weak engine you take forever to get it back. Then, NO, the acceleration is not the same as the rafale and it basically stop at MACH 1. And the biggest issue is that the top speed basically never exceed mach 1.3 even at high altitude which still take forever to reach. NONE of the other top tier struggle that much with the speed. So i honestly think you never played the game.
@DeeZ_oww
Thanks for warning us you haven’t played the game.
You mean this energy retention, which is a meta energy retention.
16.2 degrees per second at 900kph is massively meta.
That’s about what the energy retention of F-15C is.
Rafale and F-18 both get to 1000kph in 34 seconds.
But yeah, keep claiming everyone’s wrong.

Given the meta is Firing off ARH missiles and airframe performance is overall secondary. Having 10x Aim120Bs on a weaker, but still perfectly good platform is precisely what the meta is. Given the performance of most 13.7s bar the F-15Cs is below that of the F-18. 14.0 looks to be about right for it. But there is certainly a compression issue causing issues
