It’s easy to fly, that’s it. Its capabilities are quite trash, mediocre FM, bad missiles.
For example, since I mentioned the F8U-2 which is 10.3, with similar acceleration more and better missiles and better dogfighter. Only downside is that it is slightly slower and compresses more at mach 1. The F8U-2 already was better at 10.3 but for some reason, the F-5C was moved to 10.7. If it had AIM-9J like the taiwanese F-5A that would be fine
The F-5C is just mid when you compare it to other 10.7s
wait until after the next Major update which will drop within the next few weeks
it’s possible that the US will get a Borderline OP F-14D premium
for the time being I’ll compare F/A-18C (early) to F-4S as I have both
the F/A-18 is the objectively better aircraft at it’s BR, it has a Nice Radar and AIM-7P/9L which is a good armarment for the BR but it’s slow compared to it’s contenders which severely limits it’s missile range and positioning abilities
the main problem it suffers from are the Su-30MKK and AMV at 13.3, those aircraft Are actually OP at their BR and you have stand practically no chance against them in the F/A-18C (early), as long as they are within it’s range I cannot recommend buying it
the F-4S on the other hand is in a Vastly different spot, it’s Armarment of 4-6 AIM-7F and 2-4 AIM-9H is good although just slightly better than the average of the BR, it’s PDV Radar is nice for the BR but not good enough to fully rely on missiles, it’s HMD is also only Partially useful because the AIM-9H are rear aspect missiles, although good ones
all of those apparant “downsides” are offset by the F4S’s BR of 12.0, where it doesn’t meet seriously OP aircraft even in full Uptiers and can deal with everything it faces
it’s also at a BR where it’s speed is the norm for most aircraft which removes all disadvantages you’d get against faster enemies
this is why I personally would currently Recommend the F4S instead of the F/A-18C early
HOWEVER STILL WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT MAJOR UPDATE RELEASES BECAUSE THE US MAY GET A BORDERLINE OP PREMIUM VERY SOON THAT WILL MAKE BOTH F4S AND F/A-18C OBSOLETE

Yeah, in the worst-case scenario(best for full historical loadout liker)
F-14D could be similar to the F-14B, but with a better radar.
And being 13.3, forced to fight against R-77-1 to Fakour-90 with old faithful AIM-54.

Or come out with a what-if version and could have non-historical AIM-120 and make Tomcat-lovers faint.
Or maybe even not come out in this update just like Premium Welkin went.
We know nothing about F-14D ingame yet but why does everyone assume it will be borderline OP?

It really hasn’t for a long time now.
There are simply so many F-4S and Mirage premium players that full downtiers are almost nonexistent, while even partial downtiers are exceedingly rare. So most of the time, you end up fighting premium Hornets.
(Meanwhile, premium Hornets themselves are forced to “play” against premium Su-30s. That’s the Gaijin business model for you.)
id like to know how can you get uptiers to 13.3 with a 12.0 jets

Stay away from the f18, if its not a flanker dont buy it and as you dont like the F4 it will be the same experience but much much worse

I got the tech tree F/A-18A and it’s great, I’m not sure the premium would be as good at 12.7 though

MiG-29 is, better flight performance although heavily gimped. More stable platform, better missiles.
Its just faster, that’s it.
The plane is worse in every other way.
F-18 has the better avionics, radar and flight perf, idk how the MiG-29 can be a “more stable” platform.
The the premium F-18 gets what? 6 sparrows?
And 2 9Ls?
Vs 2 R-27ER amd 4 R-60.
6 sparrows beats 2 ERs any day of the week simply because the amount you get of this very solid missile is better for 16v16.
More missiles in this case allows you to afford missing shots on enemies.
2 ERs does not give you that freedom at all.
I’m not even going to bother discussing the IR missiles.
MiG-29 is even worse off if we put it in a 1v1 scenario vs an F-18
Simply put, you’re wrong and have severe skill issue
