Why?, The 7P is better.

I would like to have an alternative to the 7P, I particularly didn’t like its performance in some shots, it simply missed the target in a strange way, something that hadn’t happened with the 7F or 7M
It’s literally an Aim-7M that has better tracking. The Aim-7M is objectively worse in every regard because of this.

I agree, in theory it is far superior to any Sparrow, but in practice I had better experiences with the AIM-7F of the F-20 Tiger Shark, greater accuracy and curve than the AIM-7P.

In this case you’re not imagining things, you’re correct. But giving the 7F or 7M to the F/A-18C won’t be the same.
Basically, Gaijin modelled different versions of the AIM-7F/Ms which have slightly different seeker stats, as a way to simulate them working better with the host aircraft’s radar. In particular, the F-20 uses the same AIM-7F stats as the F-14A. This AIM-7F has much better tracking range, and significantly better target tracking (it’s much less likely to switch to unintended targets). The Hornet’s sparrows use the weaker seeker stats and as such for the Hornet, having the F or M is just worse than the P. Now I don’t know if it’s correct that the F-20 uses this better Sparrow subvariant, its radar is nowhere near as strong as that of the F-14 (power output wise), and it might actually just be an error from the devs, but I am not sure.

Aren’t they just Aim-7Ms with IOG. Which makes them like the joint second best SARH missile in game?
Atm the 7P’s are bugged, Smin passed it onto devs, it should be fixed soon.

I had thought that the AIM 7P would be a little inaccurate due to a balancing issue, less precision, but it would have the advantage of the datalink. That’s why I imagined that another version of Sparrow would be interesting.
The other sparrows on the F18A are also very buggy
