Hello everyone,

I would like to suggest the addition of another commemorative Spanish skin for the F/A-18 Hornet in War Thunder: the 30th Anniversary Special Edition, created in 2015 to celebrate the 30 years of service of the Spanish Air Force’s Hornets. This unique livery stands out due to its bold design and historical significance, making it an excellent candidate for inclusion in the game.

History and Significance of the F/A-18 30th Anniversary Skin

The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet (designated C.15 in Spain) entered service with the Spanish Air Force in the mid-1980s, when Spain acquired a fleet of EF-18A/Bs to modernize its fighter capability. Since then, the Hornet has played a vital role in Spain’s air defense, ground attack operations, and multinational NATO missions.

In 2015, to mark the 30th Anniversary of Ala 15 (15th Wing), based at Zaragoza Air Base, one of its Hornets — specifically C.15-45 (15-01) — received a spectacular commemorative paint scheme.

This aircraft quickly became one of the most recognizable Hornets in Spain, being showcased at airshows, ceremonies, and NATO Tiger Meet events, where it proudly represented the Spanish Air Force.

Why Include This Skin in War Thunder?

  • Honors Spanish Air Force Heritage: Celebrates 30 years of continuous service of the Hornet in Spain.
  • Unique and Visually Impressive Design: The bold tiger-striped vertical stabilizers and anniversary emblem make this skin instantly recognizable.
  • Strengthens Spanish Representation: Spain is one of the major NATO operators of the Hornet, and adding this skin would increase national visibility in the game.
  • Diverse Customization Options: Special event liveries like this add variety and allow players to personalize their aircraft.

Adding the F/A-18 Spanish 30th Anniversary Special Skin to War Thunder would highlight Spain’s long history with the Hornet, while also enriching the game with another historically accurate and visually stunning livery. This design, rooted in both national heritage and the NATO Tiger tradition, would surely be appreciated by players and aviation fans alike.
