These are all bad suggestions in your opinion
Give me one good reason why enemy nations should have the same aircraft.
There’s some argument for china/russia sharing things and US/Britain sharing things and Italy/Germany/japan sharing things, but what reason is there fore sharing things between post-war US and post-war USSR when the two nations are directly opposed.
All these weird copy-paste things do is ruin GSB and ASB enjoyment for zero benefit other than “there’s a premium F5 option now!”
In which case, if you want a premium F5E, why not just keep it in the U.S tech tree?
That has to be my biggest annoyance. If I want a premium yak-3, I need to buy it in the french TT rather than soviet (with Eremin’s being market only) and end up with yak-3 vs yak-3 and confusing my teammates and getting teamkilled and whatnot. At least Mustang/Corsair/Hellcats are in british tree and britain is allied to US.
Because it’d be pretty cool and 66 other people think so too
So, your argument is:
“It’s cool”
versus
“It negatively affects players in 2 game modes that rely on visual identification.”
I do not think “cool” outweighs the negative impact.
Do you not get I’m being sarcastic? Of course it is bad for game health and not a reasonable addition, this doesn’t exclude me or others from wanting it though.
The objectively correct opinion, yes.
Right haha. Nobody is stopping anyone from making such suggestions. Speaking of, I’m going to start working on one, such as the A-37 Dragon Fly that was transferred from Vietnam to the Soviet Union.
Because nobody but you can be right
Lol, maybe I’ll make those suggestions for you if you’re too lazy
Preemptive +1 from me!
-1 from me. I can understand wanting the funni MiG-28 ingame, but that isn’t enough to justify it’s inclusion ingame. Russia is choked full of aircraft as it is, and there is still more to add, they don’t need copypasta.
I understand that, my idea on it’s inclusion is when and if the Iranian sub tree leak does come true, it can be a skin for one of their F-5Es, would be more interesting that way anyway since it uses Iranian and Russian missiles and wouldn’t be a copy and paste.
+1! I see this as an event vehicle or something.
First of all, I want to say you are more understanding than most who suggest copy paste vehicles, so I thank you for that.
Secondly, while I don’t think Russia should get an F-5E, if they get it through an Iranian subtree -and a proper subtree, not the sorry excuse that is the India ‘subtree’-, I think I would be fine with that.
I try to be understanding, some think I’m on here to rage bait but I really do have a fasciation for other countries using and testing another nations gear, mainly the U.S. and USSR and its many ex-republics.
Like for example, I’d love to see a MiG-29 or Su-27 of sorts in the U.S. tree in a way, one interesting one is the MiG-29 you’d see flying around some of the SpaceX sites, pretty aircraft.
Oh yeah, I absolutely get that. There is a charm in the surreal prospect of using the kit of the ‘enemy’ against them (or even just in general), be it using a MiG in the American tech tree or using an F-16 in the Russian tech tree, as well as reading about what pilots and ground crews think of the ‘enemy’ aircraft when it isn’t actively shooting them and they are at the controls. Can make for some good reading if you find a good account.
Also, didn’t know about the Space-X MiG. Would make for a beautiful camo at the very least.
I get this, but I think instead of largely pointless copy paste, they can add these as skins for the original aircraft, like the SpaceX skin for the USSR MiG-29.
This way people who like the history can still appreciate it in-game without having to add copy paste that largely dilutes and negatively affects a tree
Alrighty, so my brain keeps coming back to this suggestion, and it’s given me some interesting ideas for it:
-
Event skin for the existing US F-5E
As it stands, the US F-5E has the exact same visual model as the one the Soviets were given by North Vietnam (that being the very basic, early production F-5E from 1972). It could be added with basically no complaints, since it’d technically satisfy both sides (no F-5E in Soviet TT, and Soviet F-5E). -
Outright event vehicle/premium vehicle
It would basically just be a copy-paste US F-5E in the Soviet/Russian TT. Highest chance of backlash from American mains -
This could be added as a semi-historical skin for an Iranian-modified F-5E
Probably one of the more… odd ideas, but seeing as Iran supposedly tested integrating R-60s onto one or two of their F-5Es, this could be something that wouldn’t be purely copy-paste. It’d be a bit more unique, but at the cost of pure historical-ness (which let’s be real, that got thrown out the window ages ago…)
All in all, there is some very interesting potential for this, but there’s also a high chance of a lot of people not being happy at the same time (cough cough American mains cough cough). I do understand the plight of people not super happy with what is essentially a copy-paste F-5E with the exact same weapons and performance. This is a very tricky situation, and because of that, I will retract my prior “-1” statement, but also won’t put a +1 yet. This will instead be Schrodinger’s F-5E suggestion…
at least if the US got a mig21, it would make sense since we actually were using it for aggressor training and it was fully functional (defector used it to get to the west)
PL-7s as well too! I’m sure they’re different reavers that integrated them, but seeing as gaijin wanted to add all the F-14A and F-14AM features as one aircraft, they could do the same here.
And that hasn’t stopped Gaijin in the past and even now when they try to limit copy paste vehicles.
Sure we can have almost every nation have a M44 Artillary Tank, but Herman the German Sherman got the boot and only put into the game for limited events. When its proven fact the Germans operated captured Shermans.
I would rather they just kept the captured or foreign operated equipment instead of removing them.
