F5 is a great dogfighter but its at too high of a BR for it to matter. Both F5C and F5E are free food when uptiered (which happens a lot) but the 1 in 20 matches you get a downtier it feels good

Some of those games above were 12.0 games
Nearly every plane of the US tree above 10.0 (except the Crusaders actually and the first Harriers) , can carry AIM-9P4/5. It was an export missile for the countries they didn’t want to give AIM-9L/Ms , but USA used it as well as a low cost replacement. Also, most NATO nations used those missiles.

Meh, not really. My F-4C, F-8E, and A-10A Early all demolish F-5s in 90% of cases.

It might be a skill issue entirely on my part, but I have had significantly better luck playing the F-5A (new one) and F-5C than the F-5E. I know its because the earlier F-5 has a significantly lower weight due to it basically being a child and the F-5E is the 35 year old slightly slimmer 300lber who never grew a single inch taller. The earlier F-5 also feels like it has better guns, despute the fact the F-5A(G) literally uses the exact same variant as the E. Honestly the F-5C is actually more worthwhile than the F-5E is, especially seing as its .3 below and has more countermeasures. The F-5A(G), at the same exact BR, is superior in every way other than engine power

Honestly, I just dislike the F-5’s guns in general. Going from something with two Colt Mk.12s (F-8E, A-4E, F4D-1) to the F-5E with two M39s always feels bad.

I never had much luck with the colts, though I also sucked absolute booty at the F8s. The only kill I ever had with them afaik was that time I shot an Su-27s wing off. The F-5’s guns are some of my favorite in WT, alongside the F4U-4B’s 20mms (I forgot their name) and the DEFAs on the M2K, but everybody has their preference and I’m not one to encroach on that
The F-8E is 10.7. I doesn’t see Su-27s.
I was in the F8U-2 with a buddy of mine who had top tier and he pulled a quick switch-to-the-F-16C-eroo and I decided to bite and somehow shot the wing off a multipathing Su-27
As much as I wish I dont have the replay, this was back when the Su-27S was first added

the f-5e and the f-5c are the N1K and the A6M at prop br if you gave them two 50cal m3 instead of their four 20mm. They’re far inferior to the competence, but they’re slightly good at dogfighting. While good they’re easily outdone by anything that is 10.7 if one plays smart. The strongest point of the f-5s is staying at 1000kmh with aggressive turns. But they’re sad if there’s at least two people that play smart against them. They have two 20mm, 40 flares and two lackluster missiles at a BR where everyone has. The MiG21SMT outrates it, the j35xs makes it have negative chances and so on.
The m39s while “ok ish” too lose all speed as soon as they leave the barrel.
Same story as the zero, but because they’re American, people cry when they get killed by one.

When it was first added this was true but then gaijin nerfed its engine to where it should have been

idk what is people doing, they keep talking about aircraft as if they were in the same state as they were once added. There’s people still screeching that the f-5 c can still tank sparrows, when any hit it strikes it will send it into a flat spin. It used to fly with the entire vertical stabilizer missing, now losing just the rudder part will send you into an uncontrollable fish like yawing spree that will get you killed while being unable to exceed 400kmh ias.

f5c can still take a hit, I still sometimes fly it back to airfield with a wing missing, sometimes even without control lines at all with just flaps
You do know it only has AIM 9L right?
