The F-5E was fun to spade, think 95% of the kills was with guns even though i suck as a dogfighter
The MiG19 has better t/w ration, thus better climb, acceleration and stuff like that. Crazy right?
Overpowered is the only “over” thing F-5E is.
On the dev blog they did said it would use AIM-9L/i, but later on they removed it

They can pull way harder, but will bleed a lot more of speed, while the F-5E can keep going at +900 and end up behind you.
maybe if you end up at low speeds, where the the F-5E does not perform well
Thats only possible if you dont know what to do, Su-25 is an easy kill every time (unless you go for a headon)
Now, the F8U is an amazing plane, but is worse in turn performance compared to the F-5E, untill you get to low speeds
MiG-19 is better at everything than the F-5E
F-5E has never been overpowered.

You wouldnt know, dont bother, MiG-19 is better than the F-5E since:
-Way better FM
-Better BR
-No flares/missiles (in 9.3 it doesnt need them)

Just use the F-8E. It’s better whilst being 0.3 lower. It doesn’t wing rip unlike the F-8U aswell.

Because those F-16 pilots are missing their frontal lobe, in every instance the F-16 dog walks the MiG-19 and it isn’t even close. You bring up the most ridiculous examples sometimes and back it up with questionable experiences.

The Mig-19 is slower than the F-16 and rates as well, what is the F-16 to do when it can’t reverse a slower target?

To the OP , i don’t like the F-5E either and that shows in my stats as well (there are planes i do very good, some are ok-ish, and some are like F-5Es …which is equivalent of some planes i use as bombtrucks for battlepass tasks or mindless grinding , while i never used it as bombtruck).
It’s not that the plane is bad. Not at all. I had a game that i flied defensively the whole game , imagine it like a playmaker on basket or central midfielder in football (soccer) . Amazing experience , but no RP whatsoever … and the other players just killed everything that tried to keep up with me.
It is a very good plane, just not for the BR it plays because you’ll get shafted by SARHs and All-Aspects (even IRCCM ones) which are very common in every uptier (75% of your games) and the CMs aren’t really many.
Now, in 1v1 can be really strong…but that’s that. The game is not 1v1. For the comparison with F-8s, well i always prefer the naval AIM-9s of any type, they got the range, even if 9Ds are more difficult in use than 9J, expect them all to be flared , but 9Ds if you use them wisely (in big range) are more likely to get enemies unaware. A kill is a kill so that is what matters , aware or not.
And i went bad with F-5E for the same reason i can tell you is good. It is good in 1v1, but you’ll get 3d partied 80% of the times.
Thai F-5E + F-5T feel so nice… though I don’t really find myself in any dogfights, more headons or chases
Even when it was new I don’t think that the F-5E was that strong. I think it probably needs Aim-9Ps.

Hmmm, if - as was rumored a while ago - a Swiss F-5E comes, I hope it gets AIM-9P-5’s (which is what they use), so all aspect with IRCCM and low-smoke rocket…
