F-4S Fule starvaiton

This problem or bug with the F-4S is very annoying especially in dogfights. I saw old videos of the F-4S and didn’t have this problem so I think it’s a bug.

How… you shouldn’t be getting fuel starvation in a phantom unless your:

  1. pulling excessive negative G’s
  2. constantly flying upside down

No the major update broke jets and now you get fuel starvation from any amount of negative Gs

Exactly, if you see -G it’s excessive, try rolling into a downwards dive, much more efficient and better for your crew.

the update didn’t break jets, missiles yes, the jets no

  1. It didnt happen before this update
  2. It shouldnt happen at all due to pressurized fuel systems
  3. Its clearly a bug since its only on multiengine jets

-g’s pull fuel away from the fuel pumps

That’s normal, if you don’t believe me, put in a bug report

Thats not how positive pressure fuel systems work my guy, you cant “pull fuel away” in a fully pressurized loop as there is no place for the Gs to displace the fuel to.

…fuel tanks + gravity, pressurization has absolutely nothing to do with it to begin with, plus fuel tanks aren’t generally pressurized.

yep definitely not pressurized it uses bladder tanks:
Declassified F4-J SAC: (F4S wouldn’t load but essentially the same design):
available at AAHS Members Area - U.S. Navy SAC Records

Lol no, the tanks have little impact on the actual flow during negative Gs, you are aware that almost every aircraft fuel tank in existence does not feed from the bottom right, gravity fed tanks are ancient history and functionally only used by very old airliners and tiny prop aircraft and even then such is becoming more rare.

No, modern aircraft fuel tanks are both positively pressurized by bleed air and contain baffles within the tank designed to prevent fuel from leaving the uptake to the booster pumps. Such baffles have been standard outside of negative G maneuvers for decades due to said baffles being mandatory to stop sloshing during combat. To that same end, functionally every military aircraft in existence that is expected to pull negative Gs, by design, has boost bumps who’s primary use is to keep the central tank at maximum fill or and the highest pressure of the loop.

Some aircraft actually have separate, smaller, flow tanks after the main pumps to the engines who’s sole job is to supply the boost pumps during negative Gs, one such aircraft is the F-16, which can support sustained high negative Gs for up to 40 seconds due to said features.

Any aircraft with a jet turbine or turboprop has tanks that are pressurized with bleed air in today’s day and age, such is a primary design philosophy required for modern aircraft.

Bladder tanks can be pressurized my guy.

incorect, pumps are generally placed at the bottom of the tanks for drainage reasons its not gravity fed and when you pull -G’s the fuel moves upwards hence away from the pumps.

not these ones since they are self-sealing (pressurizing would negate its ability to self seal)

no, no they are not generally due to potential fuel contamination, nor does pressurization effect G forces from forcing the fuel upwards,

its true but what abot this little _G

That indeed might have been a bug, although I don’t think you actually suffered fuel starvation since your afterburner never turned off

This is undoubtedly a bug because there is no way this low _G value could prevent fuel from reaching the pumps.

This is a known bug affecting several aircraft.

honestly It appears to be a bug with the message itself rather than the actual aircraft in this case, nvm I just missed the afterburner turning off

+This wasn’t the only time this happened with such a small amount of _G. It happens a lot.

its a bug
it happen to F-5 F-20 and F-4
before this update negative G frequently on my F-4E doesnt fuel starvation
now even if u pull just a little negative G like -0.3g it fuel starvation immediately
its a known bug, not a feature

F4C and J are not affected, not sure about the E haven’t played it recently

either are affect

what?
