It just does that sometimes. I guess the radar returns were more strong from the friendly compared to the enemy.

This has been an issue with sparrows and their derivatives like Skyflash for a long time, i find it tends to happen when the enemy aircraft is in a slight notch and the lock can start to weaken just before launching, or when shooting at an aircraft below me.

Fox1 always had problems when slinging them with nearby targets, though I do notice it maybe a bit more recently but could just be placebo.
